My one year surgiversary

Wednesday is my one year surgiversary.  What an awesome year it has been.  The only meds I'm on are my thyroid meds (can't help that) but other than that, my A1C is good, blood pressure great, overall health is an A+.  I began running about 6 months ago.  Yesterday I placed 3rd in the Women's Masters Division at a 5K (3.1 miles).  Masters Division is a nice way of saying older ladies.  My time was 26:36.  That is the fastest I've ever run in my life - I couldn't even do that in my 20's!!  I won a medal, an award for a free chic fil a catering tray, and a stuffed animal (my baby nephew will love it).

I've referred to my WLS as a "restart" on my life.  It's not a magic cure, it's work every day to make the right choices, but the tool helps if you use it correctly.  Now the hard part begins - the honeymoon is over soon, but I know what to do and how to do it.  I still consider myself a newbie, but I like to contribute as much as I can.  Good luck to all of the upcoming surgeries and a huge THANK YOU to the vets.

The surgery is a do-over if you follow the rules and a huge disappointment for people who eat the wrong things and don't get with the program.  You are a wonderful example of what happens when someone does this right.  Thanks for sharing.
