I'm so excited got my surgery scheduled for Sept 4, 2015! I didn't think it would be scheduled so soon but it makes me happy! I have to do the all liquid diet for 2 weeks before the surgery date. On the paperwork my surgeon gave me it says I can use slim fast, muscle milk, active boost, and a few others. Does anyone have any recommendations on good protien drinks? I wonder if herbalife shakes would be ok???

Congrats Joann! It'll be here before you know it!!

For protein recommendations, I see LOTS of people here use Premier Protein. I think the best deal is Costco/Sam's club on that one.  My personal favorite is Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard (Rocky Road Flavor - MMm!) that I buy on Amazon.  I also just recently tried the Syntrax Nectar products (Fuzzy Navel is my favorite so far) and I like their fruity flavors - it gets away from the standard milky Chocolate/Vanilla flavors.  I posted in this forum about a sampler pack they offer. Here's the link for that:  LINK

Your tastes may change after surgery, so the general recommendation is to not buy too much, but have a few varieties on hand in case the only one in your house is one you can't stomach any longer!

The rule of thumb when shopping for protein powder (recommended by 2 surgeons to me now) is at least 24g of protein in a serving, under 200 calories, and

Thank you for giving me some good recommendations, I appreciate it .  I will check out the link.

I'm really bad with diet flavored and sugar free stuff. Hopefully my taste buds change for the better and I like them after sugery.

I used to be the same way, but I think it's possible to train your taste buds to like them. An example for me is with sodas. At one point, I only drank regular soda (Dr Pepper). When I was pre-op for my lap band, I was told I should stop drinking soda, and if I drank it at all, it should be DIET and FLAT (to not increase pouch size). I begrudgingly switched to Diet Cherry Dr Pepper and it was pretty gross at first, but now the taste of 'full strength' Dr Pepper tastes weird and too sweet/sugary to me!

I think eliminating sugar from your diet altogether helps too - you get used to Crystal Light, things like Torani Sugar Free syrups become a treat vs tasting too 'diet'. :)
