Hi group..I am 6 years post op and recently had a baby  12 weeks ago tomorrow to be exact.  I gained 40 pounds during pregnancy and am struggling to lose it.  Over the last couple years I have developed some poor eating habits and have wondered if my pouch is even still working properly or completely stretched back out.  Today I started the 5 day pouch test and am just curious to know if anybody else has done it, how it worked for you (or didn't work) and how to proceed from here.  Thanks for your input!!!!

5D pouch test is a fad... But if it works for you - great...

It never worked for me. Limiting carbs, and really measuring qty of food works for me.

If I need reset - I may do a few days of Low carbs liquids during the day with one meal - either lunch or dinner. One meal - mostly dense proteins, fats and non starchy veggies... Having one meal allowed me to have something to look forward to, and not feel like I want to chew my arm off... Adding avocado gives good fat to the diet. Or olives... Yumm..

Pushing liquids during the rest of the day allowed me to properly hydrate, and learn about my body signals "hungry - not hungry".

Even now - thirst sometimes feels like hunger and drinking 2 cups of liquids takes it away. At least for another hour or so.

I'm also 6 years out and have heard a lot about the pouch test over the years.

But the bottom line is that I know no one - NO ONE - (and I keep up with a lot of post ops - about 100) - who has (1) done it all 5 days and/or (2) seen any real results from it.

IMO, it harkens back to our days of looking to fad diets, crash diets, and quick fixes for something that just takes a lot of hard work. You know what to do - measure, log your food, protein first, no refined carbs. Water. Plan your meals. All that boring stuff, right? And losing after regain is very slow, but it IS possible and your pouch will still serve you well!
