Belly Button discharge?

Sorry for the TMI....but I noticed a crust around my belly button so I kinda looked inside and saw some pus like stuff so I get up to get qtips to clean it and when I lay back down it starts oozing out. Mostly watery but some chunks as well.

Since my gallbladder surgery a few months ago my belly button opening is super small. I used to be able to clean it pretty deep with a qtip and now I barely can get one in, even just the tip. And it hurt when trying to clean it so of course I was worried I tore something open. Lol No bleeding that I can see.

Has this happened to anyone else? What do I do?

thanks!

An umbilical hernia occurs when intestine, fat, or fluid pushes through a weak spot in the belly. This causes a bulge near the belly button, or navel.

One of my incision sites right above my belly button got a slight infection, Just like you described but, minimal oozing not a lot. The doc took a wait and see approach first, but ended up putting me on antibiotics that cheated it right up.

Call your surgeon's office. I am sure that they will see you ASAP or call you in some meds! Can you check your temp? That could also be helpful when talking to them. I would also make sure that you speak to a nurse at the office not just the person who answers the phones. Best of luck to you!

Thanks for the replies! I did email my surgeon and he said to come in but he was going on vacation so they can't get me in til the 12 and he's an hour away anyway. So he told me I need to clean it deep inside. I can't really cuz the opening is so small now. But I'm doing the best I can and using alcohol and the spray neosporin and it is looking better since the day after I started. So I'll just keep an eye on it.
