Taking 4 weeks off

I made a bold decision yesterday... my surgeon offered to recommend four weeks off to my HR department. At first I thought "no way"--I could never take that much time off! But I had a change of heart-- and I am going for it!!!!

I am 1.5 weeks out and now that my drain is out, I feel physically well enough to go back, already. However, I know myself. I have a VERY high stress job and I am on the go all the time. I have to travel across the state a lot and I am In the car up to 5 hours a day and have zero down time. I have never had something as luxurious as a lunch break--it's just go, go, go and shove something in your mouth when you have a second.

Im opting for the full amount of time off so that I can really take the time to get good habits started, and focus 100% on my nutrition.

I feel selfish for this decision, but for once I think being selfish is the right way to go!

Don't feel selfish.  I took 4 weeks off and I didn't have a drain.  Take the time to figure out menus.  Sounds like you will need to carry a small cooler with you.  Focus on Y-O-U for a month.

Thanks :) Any cooler recommendations? I have put a bunch in my Amazon shopping cart but I haven't settled on one, yet. I really prefer making shakes at home rather than the store bought ones so I am hoping to find one that really keeps stuff COLD.

I LOVE my Thermos bottles. They work so good for cold or hot. And they are really handy in a car. Over the years I bought 5 of them. I think Target sells them. Love them.   and they are super easy to clean.    I used to make a shake, 10 oz, use 8 oz of ice..and even in a hot car (SC) I would have a cold shake by the end of the day. Very easy to open or close with one hand (while driving) and fitin the  coffee cup holder in my car.

That looks really good.  Any idea how it holds up from against leaks?  Like, could I throw it into my commuting bag?

Hołda really well. The small metal thing on top allows that to be locked so even accidentally it does not get open.

That also means that any hot liquid will stay really hot for long time. I burned my lips enough time to remember not to put really hot coffee or tea in it.  Stays really really hot for very long Time.

I have two of these lunch bags that you put in the freezer overnight.  They keep things pretty cold while they sit in my desk all day.  The ones with the zipper tops keep things cold for most of the work day.

I totally get what you're saying.  I didn't have a drain, and I have a sit down desk job, and I felt really guilty taking just 3 weeks off.  Then even more guilt when I only worked 1/2 days when I came back for the 4th week.

I THOROUGHLY enjoyed that time off - it's the only say-at-home vacation I'd ever taken and I soooo didn't want to come back.  And I did use that time to organize and prioritize my new life.  It was wonderful.  I promise - you won't regret it!
