Not all protein shakes are equal. Check the labels and only purchase ones that contain:

20 grams of protein or more per serving

14 grams of sugar or less per serving

5 grams of fat or less per serving

I only lost a couple pounds on it. Dr said it is possible as the diet is more about reducing the liver then specifically loosing weight. Depends a lot on what your intake was before starting it too. If you ate low cal/fat/sugar diet before, your body is use to it.

I did not lose as much as I was expecting to, but my doctor was pleased with my results.  Are you using a shake recommended by your doctor?  My doctor recommended different shakes prior to surgery that actually contained more sugar.  After surgery I did GNC Lean for a while, and liked them.  I just recently became a Beachbody coach and switched to Shakeology.  I like that better because the probiotics keep me regular.  Good luck with surgery!

Ten days is too short to be useful. Looking at weight once a month will tell you more.

If you follow a low calorie diet, you will lose weight. Period. It is impossible to eat very few calories and not lose over an extended period. People that don't are consuming more calories than they think they are.

Lots of us have convinced ourselves that our metabolisms are slow, or we're big-boned, or have something that makes our bodies different, and we can't lose weight, no matter what we do. It just is NOT true. We eat too much. Way, way too much. Even when we think we are eating almost nothing, we still are eating too much.

Lots of odd things can happen to your body short term that can effect the scale. But if you are sticking to the plan, you MUST lose.

On my liquid diet that I was on for 2 weeks preop I was allowed soup, jello and pudding. I didn't track calories at the time. I actually GAINED 2 pounds during those 2 weeks - I was so freaking angry!! I'm still a bit bitter about it but I don't like to think about it too much lol.

I can relate to that in other weight loss diets.

By the way, I just looked at your ticker. You are almost HALF WAY to your goal!  Congrats and good job!
