Opinion of sports so soon?

I used to play sports in high school and coached my teenagers soccer teams when they were younger. My youngest one is in his second year of soccer this year and I have been asked to coach his team. I feel a lot of pressure from the league to coach, but my concern is, am I too early out from surgery? I am 4 months post op. I haven't had many setbacks since surgery except dehydration in the first month. Maybe I'm need to be more confident that I can coach and run around like I used too!? Thanks in advance for any input!

I don't feel like I have any restrictions, but I want to be cautious because the restrooms are far from the soccer fields! lmao

It's been ten years, but I think I'm ready to be my old active self!

I think it could be a really great way of you seeing yourself as the active person you want to be, and for your son to be proud of you in that kind of role.  All of this culd be a huge confidence boost, not to mention the actual activity.

One potential con-- just as an eyes wide open thing:  in addition to asking if you are physically ready for the coaching, ask yourself if you are time/emotion ready for this added responsibility in your life right now when you are still trying to develop the new habits you want.  I think it could definitely help you develop those habits.

However, I mention this concern because it has been problematic for me:  As I have added back volunteering and other work, my stress level has gone up, and my time to focus on new habits has really decreased.  This summer especially, I have been really fighting (and not always winning) bad habits that arose in my past from being too busy or stressed.  I mean poor and limited sleep, meal planning, stress eating, eating on the run.  As I saw this happening, at the very beginning of the cycle, I brought it up in a support group.  My group leader said, "this is your year. You need to figure out how to make yourself the top priority this year."  Honestly, I have not figured that out!  And this is a great concern to me!

Thanks for the tips, I have my daily routines and I have "back-ups" for when I am busy and on the go. Actually with being a coach, I get to set my schedule to what is convenient for me, so that will help me. Btw, my kids are very supportive in my journey and my little one keeps me on my toes about what I can and can't eat!

Do it!  Sounds like you know what you're doing and you could get good exercise too.
