Hello all,

As I impatiently go through the pre-surgery process I have been thinking of the NSV's that I am looking forward to. I thought it might be great and inspiring to see some of yours.

So, what are 3 things you could not (or cannot in my case) do at your highest weight?

Here are mine:

1. Buckles the seatbelt on an airplane

2. Fit into the school desks with attached tables

3. Ride a roller coaster becuase the harness won't latch closed over my belly

Looking forward to reading yours!

Melissa

Great post.  Here are mine:

1.  Fasten the seatbelt on a plane

2.  Sit comfortably in a booth

3.  Walk through a turn style without turning sideways

 Height: 5'7".  HW: 299, Program starting weight: 290, SW: 238, CW 138 - 12 pounds under goal!

I have had gastric by-pass and regained all but about 50 lbs and nothing I do will get me moving back down.

1.  sit very long because my weight has ruined my knees.

2. Fit in a booth at a restaurant

3.  Cut my toenails.

Here are some things I couldn't do before that I can do easily now:

  1. sit in plastic lawn furniture
  2. use the tray table on an airplane
  3. fit into any booth in any restaurant
  4. not worry about fitting through a crowded room without laying out a path
  5. sit comfortably in any seat in an auditorium or theater
  6. Ride any ride at a carnival or amusement park
  7. climb a ladder
  8. walk without getting sweaty or out of breath
  9. Parasail
  10. get carried over the threshold by my husband
  11. put the driver's seat all the way forward
  12. use any normal towel to wrap around myself at a hotel or pool
  13. tie my shoes without putting my foot up on a chair or bench
  14. ride a teeter totter with my son and husband
  15. bungee jump
  16. ride in a helicopter
  17. fit in the backseat of a two-seater
  18. ride a horse (without animal cruelty)
  19. ride a segway
  20. zip line
  21. eat anything without people commenting about it
  22. buy clothes in any store
  23. wear high heels
  24. go to the doctor with a problem and not have it immediately regarded as a weight issue
  25. fit into beautiful lingerie
  26. weigh less than my husband and to have his clothes be huge on me.

Great list Kat. Very thorough. I have many of the same, and there are some on there, I have but hadn't thought of. I think I may go make a long list of my own... and steal some of these. :) Although it won't include Bungee jump and zip line....

Love love love your list because it could easily be mine...riding a horse is hysterical because I refused to do it when I was heavier because I too thought it was animal cruelty. My husband would contstantly say "how do you explain two people riding a horse together?" I couldn't see pass that

What an awesome list!

Some good ones here!  I'll add to those already listed...

1.  Slide down the tiny little twirly slide at the park with my granddaughter on my lap.

2.  Run to said park with my granddaughter.

3.  Stay in a room full of people without feeling I must leave because my large presence is disturbing them (my issues, not necessarily theirs).

4.  The biggee....run up stairs and not even think about it.  And I do mean run up.  Then get on the floor and hop up again over and over while playing with my granddaughter.

5.   I.  Went.  To.  Hawaii.  At last!!

I will be 60 years old on September 11.  I couldn't do these things with my own children in my 20s and 30s, which breaks my heart, so I am beyond delighted to do them now, among all those listed above. Well maybe not the parasailing ;-)

Actually today is my one year surgiversary. So this is a good exercise as I look back. A few things that come to mind are:

Airplane seat belt fitting

Not worrying about running up my stairs to get something from the bedroom, or to change the laundry

Not worrying if there is a seat that I will fit in, or if I will fit in the booth.

Being able to go shopping with my friends in the same store and even try on the same clothes

Not looking back on the Plus size department. I was out of it sooner than I thought. :)

Not struggling to get off the couch or out of a chair

Being able to find shoes because my feet are narrower - still a size 12, (ugh) but firmly a medium width not wide.

Bought two 2-piece bathing suits and I am not talking Tankini. and I love them. I only wear them in my backyard and pool when no one is around, or I put a tank top over it...but I have never worn one in my life ever...

Not worrying about going somewhere that involves too much walking...

I am sure there are many more - but as you can see a lot of worrying is gone. Don't have to think so hard...

Totally feel you on getting out of the plus sized department. Sometimes I still head there first then realize that nothing there fits anymore. This weightloss journey is quite a head trip
