Frequent Stinky Gas

I don't know about others but since having my RNY a little over a year ago I have frequent (mostly silent..thank goodness) really stinky gas. Nothing in my diet that I can think of would particularly cause this (yogurt, cottage cheese, string cheese, lettuce and protein shake). Are others having this problem? It is embarrassing. Do you know anything that can be done for it.. Other than diet change?

Diet change.

Something you eat or take causing that. I had to eliminate lots of food to prevent that.

Any amount of SA -even the little bit in chewable vatamins or SF gum can cause that for me. Grains, too much raw food - and I need to leave the room.

Taking Devrom helps some people. Gas-X is another only that works for some.

Maybe you've developed a bit of lactose intolerance? 4 out of 5 things you listed are dairy...

I was thinking lactose intolerant as well. Medical friend used to say a symptom was stinky ventilations....

Yup I have it too after RNY (i'm sure mine smelled like petunias before, lol).  I'm not sure what can be done for it besides blaming the dog when your husband says what stinks.

Sugar alcohols are what comes to mind for me.  These things are hidden in all kinds of places.

Frebreze with Gain scent is the best air freshener ever!  I was instructed by DH not to buy sprays that have a floral scent....he doesn't mince words saying, "all it does is smell like somebody sh-t in a rose bush."

All of the above ^^^^^ and, if you don't chew your food well enough, your intestines have to do the hard work of breaking down the food causing gas in the form of gurgling noise and smelly gas.

I went back to the surgery about this exact problem,  i am 13 years out.  He said, "  I guess thats the dirty little secret for some people who have Gastric Bypass surgery".   So.....  not sure what to do,    my husband lives with it,  blame the dog :)
