Vitamin Patches

I have a hard time with getting all my vitamins in consistently. I am very concerned about the long-term effects of this. I have tried many different things to help, and I am going to try the patch. I have a couple of questions though, does anyone have experience with it? I ordered the Bariatric Multivitamin Patch by PatchMD. It exceeds the ASMBS standards, and would work on its own as a multi. I'm wondering about absorption. It has calcium carbonate, which I know we are supposed to have Calcium Citrate because our intestines absorb it better, but does it matter if it is absorbed by the skin, not in the digestive tract? Also, it has Iron and Calcium together, but again, the interference between the two happens in the intestines, so would that be negated by the trans dermal absorption? Anyone have any opinions on the Patch? I know vitamins are extremely important, so please, just comments about the patch on not on my shortcomings, thanks!

A bunch of people have started using them, but the problem is, they are so new that it's hard to say what the long term effects will be. I have seen only anecdotal evidence that says the calcium carbonate is ok, since it is absorbed differently, but I have seen no science to back that up.

The patch might be something I would look into, down the line, but I am not going to be a gunny pig. But I don't have any problems taking my supplements now, so it's not an issue for me.

The only other potential issue I can see with the patch is the lack of flexibility. If your levels of something like Vitamin A were really high, there is no way to reduce it without going off the patch altogether. But if something like iron or D were too low, you could use something extra to add to it.

When have you last had labs done? If it was recently, you could try them out until the next time your labs are due, and then compare. I'm assuming, since you are having a hard time with vitamins, that this can't be worse than not taking any.

My last labs were about a month and a half ago. My Dr. does them every three months for the first year, so I have new ones in about another month and a half and then three months again after that. I will see how my trends go and update.

I haven't personally used them, but I saw someone post not that long ago that they had their best labs ever since being on the PatchMD Multi.

I hope you update us on this in the future.  I'm curious how it works out for you.  I don't have trouble with vitamins, but would be interested in something easier.

Because of subdermal absorbtion~  we only need 100% of vitamins / minerals, not 200%, that are needed if taken by mouth.

I would love to see how this works for you. I am terrible at taking my vitamins. My last labs were good, I get a new set done in a month, so I'll have a better look to see whats up or whats down.  A patch would be so much easier for me to get those vits in.
