Thank you soooooooooooo much for all the advice and help. Yesterday was truly a meltdown day because I wore an outfit that my Mom bought me for Mother's day in 2013. She cried due to the weight I have lost and was happy to see that I was getting health before her passing (November 4th 2013) My heart was broken because not only I felt as though I have failed myself and family, I failed my Mom. The capris are a size 20 and will NOT go over my hips. So, with you guys encouragement, i went shopping and going back to basics. I read about the 5 day pouch test, but i'm going back to post surgery diet. After researching what could have interfered, it hit me..........................DIET POP AND CARBONATED DRINKS!!!!!!damn you carbonation, so with that being said, no more carbonation for me!
Calorie-free carbonated drinks, in and of themselves, will not make you gain weight... Zero calories is zero calories. Some people, however, find that when they drink pop/soda it makes them crave other unhealthy foods/snacks. I am definitely not suggesting that you don't need to give up the carbonated drinks, but I do want to be sure that you are being accurate with your analysis of what the problems were that contributed to the regain. If you attribute it to the wrong thing(s), you won't solve the problem(s) long-term.
Please don't do the 5 day pouch "test". It is just a fad diet for RNYers and will reinforce the old dieting (diet - deprivation - surrender - regain) mentality. We all spent YEARS goign in circles on that merry-go-round! There is nothing that you can accomplish with goink back to liquids that you CANNOT accomplish by going back to basics with solid food! If you need to detox from carbs you can absolutely do that my eating nothing but protein. Staying with solid food also offers a huge advantage: instead of reinforcing the old failed diet mentality, it will reinforce the new healthy eating behaviors and mentality that you now know you need to have for the rest of your life to maintain your weight loss.
I have never known anyone who honestly went back to measuring and tracking their food, and decreasing their calories, who did NOT lose weight. Many people who do the 5DPT end up doing it repeatedly.

Sorry, this is one of my biggest WLS related pet peeves...
Carbonation will NOT stretch your pouch (or sleeve). There are openings at the top and the bottom (so completely disregard the alleged balloon "demonstration" where they tie the top closed!), and the gas will escape from one end or the other long before enough pressure builds up to make the muscle strench (even temporarily, let alone permanently). Gases, like liquids, will take the path of least resistance and for carbonation to stretch the pouch, it would have to defy the laws of Physics!
In order to make that silly balloon "demonstration" accurate, they would have to leave the neck of the balloon open AND poke a hole in the bottom of it AND use a very thick balloon.
Unfortunately, this is an urban legend started/supported by doctors who either never took a Physics course or are one of the ones my surgeon told me about who intentionally use the "stretching the pouch" fiction as a scare tactic to get their patients to give up sodas.
There are MANY legitimate reasons to give up soda -- it is just a bunch of chemicals, it is acidic, it may result in calcium issues (studies are mixed), and it may make you crave other unhealthy foods -- but stretching the pouch/sleeve isn't one of them.
