nervous about post op nausea

Hello, I am having surgery on May 28 and super nervous about vomiting from the anesthesia, moreso than the pain! I get motion sickness often and have to take lots of dramamine when traveling. I felt a bit nauseous after the propofol with my endoscopy. I know it can be dangerous right after bariactric surgery. Anyone have any thoughts on this?  Thanks!

I got sick from anesthesia, vomited quite a bit.. Nothing really coming up but blood and saliva.  They started giving me zofran in my iv and I felt tons better.   I'm not going to lie, that was probably the worst part of my surgery... But.. It didn't last long.  Good luck. You will be fine!

I was very nauseous, and they kept giving me shots of something through IV/port thing in my arm... so I was actually fine in the hospital. When I got home I had waves of nausea, and the doc did end up giving me a script...for Zofran...although I know that helps some people a lot, I only took it once...I didn't feel like it helped. I never vomited though. What actually did give me temporary relief was peppermint TicTacs... I would bite them and let them dissolve in my mouth. They were a life saver. (no pun intended ) .... make sure you stay hydrated when you get home...sip, sip, sip... because dehydration will cause nausea as well. Good Luck.

I get horrible car/motion sickness but did not experience nausea post op at all. They did give me anti-nausea medication with the morphine to be on the safe side. As a side note, I don't seem to get motion sickness at all post-op, not sure if that will last but I sure hope so.

The only reason I was nauseated after my surgery was because of the morphine. Once my surgeon switched me to IV Tylenol, my pain was managed quite well ( way better than I expected it to ), and I was no longer nauseous. 

I guess I lucked out. 

I get badly carsick and had zero nausea after surgery. My surgeon reluctantly wrote me a prescription for Zofran (she prefers to check us in person if we're nauseous to make sure we're ok) but I've never used it. I did have a second hospital stay two weeks out though (due to an infection) and needed some Zofran then for a couple days because the morphine was making me a little nauseous. But that was completely separate from my surgery, eating etc. Now I do have occasional nausea but it's mild enough that ginger or peppermint helps. Congrats on your upcoming surgery! 

tell the anesthesiologist that you get sick with anesthesia and have motion sickness. I told them prior to my surgery and he put a patch on me prior to surgery and made sure I had something on board during surgery. I keep the patch on until I came home. I also was given Zofran to take if needed at home didn't really need it.
