The $1000 bill was for the psychiatrist appt and the hospital. I took care of that already.

When you get a bill from anyone you need to see what it says your responsibility is.  Check those bills you paid to your psych and hospital.  make sure you actually owed the thousand.  Your doctor's office did not make a mistake if the bill from them says that they are owed $13k but your portion is $0.  That is exactly what is supposed to happen.  Its so you are aware of what is being charged to your insurance.

I called the clinic and they apologized, they said they were waiting on the payment from insurance and inadvertently sent me the bill. I owe $0!

BEcause your insurance is going to cover dr. says.

You dont owe him anythign.

Just relax. Check that dr. says has filed a claim with your insurance. If he hasnt, YOU FILE the claim with the bill he has sent you.

You owe NOTHING.

Just relax.

You are stressing yourself out needlessly.

My surgeon was excellent but his office staff is a hot mess! I actually have an appt. with him today so I am going to get this cleared up. This is one too many mistakes his staff has made. I am more annoyed than stressed.

I assure you. I get these kind of bills all the time. I believe it is pretty standard.

And then your insurance will send somethign that looks like a bill but will say "Not a bill" at the top and you will see what the doctor charged and what the insurance negiotated the price down for.

You are not obligated to pay the differnce either.

This is pretty much standard practice.

More than likely the hospital has not received payment from the insurance company yet... so they are showing an open balance. Your bill should state "pending insurance" or something to that effect. Your EOB from the insurance will state what you owe, which is what the hospital should bill you for once they receive their EOB and payment from the insurance.

I have blue cross/blue shield. The hospital was $2000 and the dr. for my RNY was $250. I am in Ca. as well. Good luck getting this worked out.
