Because I went out and enjoyed some time with friends? Can someone sensible please respond?

Oh and I have lost 6+ pounds these past few weeks . . .

You don't have to drink to enjoy time with out friends.  Alcohol is just empty calories and it can cause cross addictions.

You are playing in dangerous waters.

Please get yourself to a therapist to figure out why you need to have alcohol to enjoy time with friends.  That's a pretty disturbing requirement.  Or.. get new friends that don't require alcohol to be around.

I do see as psychologist and I don't need alcohol to have fun with friends . . It was one night in six months. Get off your soap box.

I hope you're talking about your need to drink while socializing with the therapist you already see.

Unfortunately, sometimes people on this site jump the gun and begin acting like psychologists rather than just sharing their experience.  They judge and make pronouncements without even knowing someone or having all the facts.

It's obvious to me from your post that you don't make a practice of drinking too much.  Having occasional drinks with your friends does not make you an alcoholic, nor does it predict failure with your weight loss.  I don't think of us can claim perfection with following any program, and there has to be room to occasionally make not the healthiest choice.  As long as most of the time you choose healthy, you'll be fine.   I've been maintaining a 110+ weight loss for well over a year and I occasionally drink when I'm at a party and I sometimes have non-healthy snacks.

Good luck.  Just take what you want from people's responses and don't take it personally, since they don't even know you.

I went out once with some friends and had a few drinks to see what kind of alcohol tolerance I had post surgery. I am no closer to being an alcoholic than I was the last time I drank in NOVEMBER 2014.

If you could respond with any useful information as to why my tolerance is so high post op that would be great, my weight loss team is baffled by my tolerance not with the fact I am going to become a raging alcohol going out with my friends every 6 months. I have an alcoholic sister, I do know the difference :/

If I'm not mistaken, you had surgery the last week of February 2015.

If you have a family member who is an alcoholic, it puts you at higher risk.  It could also explain why your tolerance is so high.  Alcoholism has a genetic component.

I will bring that up the next time I meet with my nurse and dietician, thank you. I just found it odd I could drink that much and it not affect me at all.
