Blood sugar running high one day post-op?

I have to admit, I was hopeful I'd get off my diabetes meds really quickly after surgery, especially because I was already able to drop 2 of them with my pre-op weight loss. But in the hospital, my blood sugar readings have all been higher than usual. I was at 159 last night and they had to give me insulin. Does this mean I don't really have a shot of diabetes resolution after all? That was my primary motivation for surgery. =(
I'm not diabetic, but my levels were higher than my norm in the hospital. Stress on the body causes levels to increase....and your body is stressed immediately after major surgery! As your body heals, the levels will most likely go down...just give it time!

Thanks, I'll try to be patient, but patience is definitely not one of my virtues, hahaha.
My highest ever was 175, which I hit the day of surgery. My previous high was 139. I got my first two and only ever insulin shots in the hospital. Then over the next few weeks fasting BS slowly went down. At six weeks out it hit 80 which is now normal for me. Previous normal was 110, on 2k Metformin.
I also got the only insulin shots ever while in the hospital. I don't know why, but it really makes your blood sugar spike.
I had low blood sugar and was off all meds within yhree days.

I had my surgery 4/1/2015...Diabetes was my primary reason for having gastric bypass and the hope for remission and being insulin free!! I am on an insulin pump. For 2-3 days after surgery my blood sugars were in the upper 200's. I am one month post op and my insulin has been cut in half, my sugars are normal. I had hope to have the three day post op remission miracle but am happy for where I am at. Also my team suggests as I lose more weight I may continue to decrease my insulin and may still get off it at some point.
