Almond butter, Cashew butter - Sugars??

I've been DYING for some almond butter.  Yesterday I went to Whole Foods, Sprouts and even Walmart in my search for almond butter or cashew butter. I found tons but all of them have sugar, pure cane sugar or some other creative name for sugar as the second or third ingredient. I'm a big time dumper and wanted to know if there is a brand that I can use. I have PB2 and it is a Godsend. But I would love something chewy like almond butter (I did find peanut butter without sugar).  Any ideas?

Have you tried making your own?  We have grocery stores where you can grind the nuts in store with nothing added to make nut butter.

I make my own nut butters.  It takes a really good blender (I use a VitaMix), but you have complete control over what is in it.  I know that Whole Foods has grinders so you can grind your own in the store.  That's a good alternative if you have one close by and don't have a powerful enough blender.  I'm sure that other natural food stores offer the same service.

Watch that PB2.  I was looking to buy some and saw the ingredients, whi*****luded sugar and passed.

A while back Trader Joe's had a powdered peanut product that had no sugar but they stopped selling it.  It was so good.

I am pretty sure that Whole Food's has a place to grind your own peanut and almond butter, at least out here they do.

They also have that at Fred Meyer's, which is our Kruger store out here.

Regular PB2 has 1g of sugar per 2 tbsp serving.  The chocolate variety has 3g.

You can make your own. Just get raw cashews and grind them up in a vitamix iwth a bit of vegetable oil. Same with almonds. You decide the amount of fat, salt, and sugar to add.
