Shrimp ****tail ring is one choice... the kind from the grocery store. Antipasto Platter with cheeses, meats and roasted veggies, artichoke hearts etc...  If you need to bring a main dish type meal I would brown up boneless chicken- thighs if people would eat it(more moist) cube and layer over the bottom of a casserole and then layer your flavors - go Italian, go Mexican. Could make it an enchilada casserole. Dot some spoonfuls of refried beans on it, cover in Enchilada sauce and cheddar cheese. Nobody complains if their is cheese on top. If you want to go Italian layer ricotta, sauce and cheese... No carbs but still delicious.

Love the shrimp ring idea--gotta remember that one--thanks.  You can keep the artichoke heart idea, though.

Deviled eggs with crab. Delicious and the crab ups the protein.

I need to seriously avoid relative gatherings because that's where I confess the all-you-can-eat mindset kicks in.  So much so, I've requested, with slight success, to make our immediate family celebrations activity-based and not food-based.  Okay, rant over, here's my favorite go-to's:  a crock pot of chili in the wintertime and a large glass bowl of salad fixings (with berries and nuts on top) in the summertime.

I'm fairly new (RNY 4/8) but last weekend we had a family gathering and I brought Roasted Red Pepper Hummus (Trader Joes) and mixed it with a cup of Fage Greek Yogurt.  I put cucumber slices, red pepper slices, and carrot sticks around it and for the rest of the gang, pita chips.  It was gone in no time and was delicious!

I take hummus with veggies, ranch mix made with Greek yogurt and veggies, shrimp or low fat cheeses.  I ALWAYS take a water bottle with me.

Anything raw or fruits. Raw foods can add light oil vingers & drink lots of water. A full stomach has no need for food.
