When does the weight loss start?

i had surgery on the 22nd (4days ago) and am feeling great.....a little sore yet, but overall pretty good.  I started walking more intentionally.....30 minutes this morning, albeit slow.  When did you all start to see weight coming off.  I am not expecting miracles here and know I have a lot of work to do but was wondering what your post op loss rates and times looked like.

Every person is different. There are so many factors in play. I had surgery on the 21st and I'm not even worried about stepping on a scale yet.  This is our time to heal and follow the program and instructions 100%. Do that and the results will follow.

Take care of you.

Stick to the plan, trust the process, and results will follow. And by all means, stay off the scale if you can help it so you don't go crazy!

The scale and I never had a healthy relationship, and the first month post op was a lot of the same for us, teasing me then disappointing me. After a month out we are working on repairing our past, getting along much better and telling eachother what we want to hear. Long story short, ignore that stupid thing for a month (at least). I wish I did, I let it concern me a few times and effect my mood all while in my head I knew I was doing everything to plan. I weigh now once a week just to monitor how things are going, but the focus remains the same, on the lifestyle change and not on that piece of junk.

I had surgery on the 20th and have lost 13lb so far. I think I first weighed 2 or 3 days post op and expected it to be high because of the fluids but I had already lost 9lb by that point.

It is very variable. Some people really retain a lot of fluids from surgery and IV. I personally didn't... and lost about 10lbs the first week... then I stalled for 3 1/2 weeks... thought I was going to lose my mind. SO do what you are supposed to do and it will happen. The first month can be very variable, then the second month I lost more.

The weight started coming off as soon as I was home from hospital.

wihtin the first 6 months, I lost 60 pounds but the weight REALLY started to fly off between months 6-10 when I started to incorporate weight training and running into my routine. Even though I lost more poudns in the beginning, it was not proportional to my overall wieght (fat person, some weight loss)versus smaller person same 2 lbs a week lost.

Exercise will really help you.

It took a full week for all the fluids/swelling weight (about 12 lbs for me) to go away!
