Does anyone really regret their procedure Bi-pass?

I'm still new from my procedure, but so far, I don't regret it at all.  Maybe I regret not getting it sooner!  I started looking into WLS about 7 years ago, but I got cold feet.  Plus, I probably would've opted for the lap band back then, so maybe it was a good thing.

I haven't dumped yet, but I also haven't pushed it at all.  I'm afraid of how I'll handle it if I find out that I don't dump on lots of sugar.  I figure I'm safer if I just keep the fear of dumping.

Stay away from sugar and carbs is my advice.  I wish they had a revision for the RNY, as I have gained lots of weight back.

8 3/4 years out... not one regret. Used to regret not having weight loss surgery sooner but even that I don't regret now... it was the right time for me... mentally I was ready to make life changes.... earlier in life maybe I wouldn't have been as committed... IDK but nope not a regret... and there is really great eating on the other side of surgery TRUST ME... dumping as other posters have mentioned isn't a given but in theory you won't know because you will have eliminated a lot of what might cause it ;) In almost 9 years I can count on 1 hand how many times I have dumped... its not pleasant (for me about 1 hour of hell, heart racing, sweating, general yukky feeling, etc.) but not the end of the world.

So... I haven't read your profile (forgive me) but I'm gathering you can think of a bunch of bad things that are happening now that are associated with your obesity... and generally those health issues will only get worse as time goes on. Obesity is the 2nd leading cause of preventable death. That is scary stuff too. I'd take the fear of dumping and no sugar over that stuff...

and really... as you can also see from some of the posts it's not no sugar forever but... you can't continue the same behaviors of your pre-op life and expect a different result.

Best wishes in your research and whatever decision you end up making about surgery.

P.S. My blog link in the signature will give you a look into how eat post-op. I am definitely not regretting anything :)

I was scared too. I am a self-proclaimed chocoholic and jelly bean fanatic.

I DO dump and I am so thankful ( not during of course its pure hell) but it keeps my on the straight and narrow.

VERY narrow.  I was super good until this past Easter, I figured well I am almost 9 months out I can have a few star burst jelly

beans.. and I did... and I heard about it later from my belly and gas and nausea etc.

This surgery is so so worth it. It is hard. It is a learning curve from H*LL but I have officially lost 100 lbs since the first day I walked into the surgeon office.  I cry just typing that.

I know others have said it but it does change your taste buds. I never thought it was true but it is and I think that helps too.

Jump in with both feet!  You can do this!  :)

Morning,

I had my RNY procedure back in 2008.  I stayed away from sugar for at least 2 yrs, then gradually added it back in very slowly.  I limit my sugar, and watch what I eat.

You do not have to live your life without sugar!  Just limit it. I'm 7 years out, and still incorporate sugar in my diet.  I've kept my weight off ever since 2008, and will continue to.

Don't deny yourself...everything in moderation...you don't want to slip back into old habits.

Much success to you in your WL journey!

Stay blessed and always encouraged.
