Need to lose some pounds
I gained weight between my initial consult and my second appointment, so I realized I needed to hunker down and really apply myself to losing weight to prove (mainly to myself) that I could.
My method was to replace the meals I ate by myself with protein shakes and eat normally for the meals I ate with people. This meant that, most days, I replaced breakfast and lunch with a protein shake. I did start cooking more paleo recipes during that time as well, so I was eating healthier at dinner than I had been before.
This worked very well for me.

My doctor would put everyone on the Liver Shrinking Diet from the first pre-op appointment until the two weeks before which were liquids only. The liver shrinking diet for her was pretty much just meat and veggies. She had me on one, then closer to surgery, two, protein shakes a day, with meat, veggies, and lots of water. It sucked, but works. All liquids was super hard, so I would suggest at least getting in your protein with meat, chicken, turkey, etc in addition to your shakes. It wasn't as difficult after surgery to get used to eating again because I learned before surgery how to cut all that other stuff out. Good luck!
