Soft foods
Ok so I had rny 3/23 & on Monday I can start my soft food phase but my question is what actually qualifies as soft food? I've seen some posts say egg, chicken, tuna salads & even Wendy's chili but a close friend of mine had the same surgery and was only eating ricotta cheese and puddings/yogurts at this stage. My Nut is on vacay this week so Im unable to ask her at this time. Any suggestios wld be greatly appreciated!
I'm still on the soft foods stage and I'm allowed to eat hamburgers, veggie burgers, tuna salad, egg salad, meatballs, etc. For some reason I've tried chicken burgers but they haven't been very friendly to my stomach. Theres lots of soft food options, I would definitely see what foods your Dr's office and nutritionist recommend.
I am on soft foods right now, and I am allowed pretty much anything except insoluble fiber. I can't eat raw veggies, the skin on fruits, dried fruit, berries, nuts, seeds, corn, pea pods, dried beans with skins, wheat products that aren't smooth, pickles, or popcorn. Basically anything that doesn't get digested well and might get stuck. It sounds like your friend was still in the pureed food stage. Some programs progress through the stages slower. I started soft foods two weeks after surgery. Things that are really dry can be difficult to tolerate, but I haven't had any problems with chicken salad (I use mayo made with olive oil), turkey quinoa meatballs, chicken breakfast sausage, cooked broccoli, cheese (I suggest part skim or light cheeses because they tend to have more protein), eggs, turkey burger, turkey pepperoni, chicken kebabs, cooked bell peppers, apple or pear with no skin, ricotta cheese, cottage cheese, Greek yogurt, or baked ham. But I am only supposed to try one new thing a day so that if anything bothers me I know what it is.

Thanks! I'm glad because I've been on clear/full liquids for 3 weeks and I am definitely happy to try some new foods.
