Thought I could do this on my own
Im not new here but 2 1/2 yrs ago I had my surgery date and at the last minute, changed my mind and thought I could do this on my own. I lost 140 lbs. in a year and a half without surgery only to gain 120 lbs back. Now Im back and ready to do this!!! Ive found this site to be a big inspiration to me and now Im going to go thru this all over again and this time go ahead with the surgery. Wish me luck!!!
This is such a typical story. We almost all go through this. We end up finally having surgery, and afterwards wish we had done it sooner.
Good luck.

Yours is a familiar story to us all. I certainly thought that I could, and should, do it "on my own." I was successful losing weight short term, only to gain it back long term. I finally had to accept that I needed more tools to finally take control of my health. I view my obesity as a chronic illness that has to be managed over a life time. There is no more shame in having surgery to help control weight then it is to use insulin to maintain blood sugar levels. I am blessed that I was given the gift of this surgery. It is a life changer and a life saver. Congratulations on making a decision that will lead you to a better quality of life.
