Do you all take magnesium supplements and if so how much and what kind? Thinking all my leg pain and headaches and weakness is something like that. I emailed my surgeon and waiting on his reply. He's gonna be mad at me cuz lately I've slacked on my calcium. Taking it once a day instead of three. I know it's super bad. Gonna work on that harder!

Drinking a lot of water like we do can lower your potassium levels too... which can cause cramping and generally bad feeling. Are you drinking all your fluids? because being slightly dehydrated can make you feel rotten too. I do take magnesium, but was taking it before surgery because it was good for my blood pressure. This is the one I take. I take one morning and night. I tried other ones, but with this one I saw a difference, also this type of Magnesium is not supposed to give intestinal side effects.

I take 500 mg of magnesium daily along with Miralax and Colace for my constipation.  The bonus with taking the magnesium, was no more leg cramps.  I got my parents to take 250 mg daily. Dad hasn't had any leg cramps and mom's has had much less leg cramps. I just buy mine from CVS or Walmart.

Please don't neglect your calcium. You heart needs calcium to function and will leach it from your bones to have a normal blood level.

Do not take Magnesium Oxide unless that's all you have... it's the least bioavailable form of Magnesium you can get, although it is an ok laxative and the cheapest (that's why you find it everywhere)... mag citrate or sulfate are more easily absorbed and used by the body.

I use Natural Calm based on my nutritionists recommendation.  It's powder and I put it in my water.  It took a little getting use to the taste but I like it now.
