So whats the deal with sugar alcohol
Congrats on your surgery!! I am 9 days post op and have not had an issue with sugar alcohols...I had them prior to surgery as well though so maybe I am just not sensitive to them. I had a couple of no sugar added fudgesicles and have been fine as well as a werthers sugar free hard candy to suck on. Those don't have a ton of sugar alcohols though. The only thing I have tried since the surgery that did not sit well was a high protein slim fast shake...I think it was just to rich or something. Tried it twice and nope...nausea.
Good Look to you!!!

Sugar alcohols are sneaky sweetners that manufacturers put into our food. For myself, it created absolutely disgusting intestinal gas. I could disgust the family dog. If I want to sweeten something I'll use truvia or stevia, which doesn't seem to have the same dreadful effect.
Give it a try and see how it effects you; you might be alright with it.
I never really thought about it and then I ate an Atkins Bar that probably had 10 or more and I thought I was going to die. The gas and cramping was horrible. So now I just stay away.

Certain sugar alcohols cause me much more intestinal distress than real sugar does: diarrhea, cramping, gas, and sometimes pain as well.
I don't dump easily, so I would much rather have a smaller amount of something with real sugar than to take a chance on a sugar free version with sugar alcohols.

You don't drown by falling in the water. You drown by staying there.
