Vitamin B-12 Deficiency or MS?

Hey Guys/Gals

For about the past 3 or so months I have been getting weird pins and needles tingling in my arms, neck, face, lips, and top/back of my head. It hasn't caused any actual pain but, it is really starting to creep me out. I'm having an "episode" right now and its the worse one to date. I have that feeling in my left arm and hand, my right hand, my face and lips, fron and back of my neck and top of my head. Usually its only going on for about 30 min or an hour in extreme cases but, tonight it has been going on for about 3 or 4 hours now and it gets worse then weakens then gets worse then weakens on and off....

Have any of you had anything like this before? I have gone online in search (I know this is usually never a good idea because you can really scare yourself) and seems like both Vitamin B-12 Deficiency and MS can and does have these kind of side effects. I realize I am going to have to go to the doctor and get tests done to determine for sure. I just wanted to ask around here and see if any of you have gone through anything like this and what it ended up being?

                                                                                                                                            Thanks!

What was your last B12 level.   How are you supplementing?   Some consequences of B12 deficiency are permanent so it's something we should always be on top of!

Get your labs done, Vit B12 deficiency would be the first one to rule out......Wishing you the best !!

There are LOTS of things other than B12 deficiency and MS that can cause the symptoms you are describing.  Neuropathy can have dozens of different causes, including other vitamin deficiencies.

Your best bet is to get to the doctor, let him/her know about the symptoms and get a full set of vitamin labs (assuming that you have not had any since just before these symptoms appeared) to check for any deficiencies and to do whatever additional blood work the doctor might feel is appropriate.

Don't procrastinate, though, because -- as already mentioned -- if it is from a serious vitamin deficiency, some of the effects may be permanent.
