Surgery done !!!
Hello OH,
The preparation for surgery, done. The surgery completed yesterday, and today is the new beginning. I've got some days of discomfort ahead but that too will pass. I would like to thank those well wishers and those who have shared their tips.
Currently as I right this i have some pain which feels like feeling bloated and gassy, any one have or had any similar symptoms, and any tips on how to ease the discomfort?
Kevin.
Congratulations. The gas is from when they inflate you to operate. It takes a while to go away, and walking is the best way to get over it.
Keep walking. Drink a lot. Every day gets a little better.

Congratulations! :) & I also had a question for you, I haven't had surgery yet, and I wanted to know if the gas feeling makes you feel like you're having a heart attack? I can handle the gas/bloating feeling in my stomach but I hate pressure in the chest area. But, I hope you heal fast and enter the next phase of your new life :)
I've never heard anyone describe it that way. It's just a lot of rumbling. No big deal, but takes maybe a week to go away.

Kevin,
Glad to hear from you and that your now on the winning bench side. I am just a little over 2 weeks out from my surgery. I was fortunate and didn't really have an issue with that bloated gassy feeling....keep waiting for it, but it never happened. I do know from past surgeries and also from being a Nurse...that walk, walk, walk is the best thing for it. I know that My surgeon would have allowed the gas x also...but I didn't need that. Once you get past the first few days you will start feeling much different.
It helped me to have a pillow tight against my chest/stomach at all times. My surgeon actually gives each of his patient a special teddy bear that is wedge-shaped for that purpose- took me awhile to figure that out though! I was using the pillow just fine before that.
Congratulations!!

I visited my surgeon this morning, so far so good. I was told that the bloated gassy feeling would eventually pass within a week. The pain/discomfort just reminds me of the feeling I'd get when overeating.
Today it felt like i was eating all day just because it takes so long to eat so little, it feels like a job!!!
