4 months stall and questions

I am just about 4 months out now and was a revision from Lapband to RNY.  I have lost just over 50 lbs but have been stuck the last month (!!) save for a 2lb up and down.  I am on plan, I get my protein and water, I eat about 850 calories a day or less and have been working out like mad the last few weeks at least 5 times each week burning between 145 and 215 calories per work out.  I do not eat my calories back.  I have not been sleeping well due to kids being up and my stress is its normal super high level given my career.  I am not giving up, but I am a bit discouraged with the lack of movement on the scale, any ideas to get it going again or do I need to wait it out? I have between 60 and 70 more lbs to lose so I would really like to not waste time if there is something I can do.  Thanks!

Your metabolism is slower because of the lapband (probably).  I would lose about a pound a week doing what you are doing.  Be really careful with logging the calories and don't even think about eating back exercise calories.  I have to weigh myself every morning and watch calories, fat, carbs, protein, and fiber carefully.

keep following the plan correctly and stay off the scale awhile. That alone can drive you crazy.

You might be building muscle with all of that exercise.  Do you measure?

I just recently broke through a stall that lasted about a month.  I was doing the same thing - up and down 2 lbs.  But during that same time, I also dropped a pant size.  Just hang in there and keep doing what you are doing.

Lady_bugg....we had surgery a day apart and I am around the same amount of weight loss as you, I have lost 51 lbs.  I think it may be muscle, I feel like I can really see a difference the last month even without the weight loss.  Going to just keep going!!  Thanks!

You cannot, absolutely cannot, build muscle while on a caloric deficit. You need extra calories to build muscle, and you might be lucky to add a half pound of muscle per month if you worked out like an olympic athlete.

Stalls happen. If you are eating low calorie, the scale will move.

That's funny - I was thinking you are not eating enough... try switching up your calories. Are you eating a lot of carbs in the 850? Sometimes change shakes it up.

Sorry life got crazy.  Still losing super slow, I think 15 lbs in the last three months.  I work out 4-5 times a week and burn 250-350 calories each time.  I keep my carbs low, with a goal of 35% from carbs, 35% from fat and 30 from protein. Today for example I will eat 762 calories, 20 grams of fat, 67 carb and 62 protein and it is a higher carb day because I added extra veggies tonight.  Any idea what the problem is or am I just slow? I was a revision and eating almost nothing before surgery due to the lapband being so tight (and not even losing) so could it just be my body needs to adjust?  I am ok losing slow, as long as I am losing, but this is painfully slow.  On the upside I got a bunch of compliments of the weight loss the last few weeks, so even though the weight isn't coming off, I think the inches are.

Losing 15 pounds in a month is not slow! It's great progress. How much did you think you'd lose?

No, 15 lbs in three months, not one.  Averaging 5 lbs a month the last three months....sorry typo!
