Ok. I've held off posting buyer's remorse until now...
Like everyone has said, It DOES get better! It took me over a month to feel somewhat normal again. Even then I had to rest more often than before. I would get tired so easily. I had never had any type of surgery prior to my RnY. So my expectations were WAY off. I thought I'd be up and about and feeling great within a week. (Its liproscopic right? what's the big deal? Ha) I was so wrong. And I was so dissapointed and thought I was doing something wrong. I was even a little down in the dumps for a while thinking I would never be the same in terms of stamina. Reguardless of how long it takes individual people to heal...IT IS A MAJOR SURGERY! Not to mention all the life changes that go along with it. Give your body time to adjust. It will be worth it, even if you don't think so now. My husband and I both had the surgery and we often have to keep each other in check. Hang in there! The site is very helpful. Everyone is very encouraging...sometimes brutally honest...but helpful. Best of luck hun!

I am so, so sorry to hear this is happening to you!!
The heparin after surgery makes you bleed more, I have had two short (but exceptionally HEAVY) periods since my surgery on the 13th. My doctor says that is very normal and not to worry. But it sounds like you have far more going on.
Normally I am not big on using pain meds, but if you still have actual pain, and not just tenderness, at the incision sites, then take some pain meds and give yourself a break! Maybe talk to your PCP about hanging out in their office for a few hours while they get a bag of fluids in you. I used to have to do that when I was pregnant fairly often and I'd just take a book and let them totally hydrate me (exceptionally sick throughout both pregnancies) and you could even have them leave the hep-lock in and come in each day for a few days until you are really back to feeling just right. Getting IVs in is one of my very least favorite things in the world.
Hugs to you, and hoping each day going forward you feel better and better!
I have no choice to keep plugging along. I feel a bit better today physically. Hemoglobin is up a gram, and maybe, just maybe I'm about to turn a corner!

That is the spirit...the corner might be a big one, but you WILL turn it!! :)
only week one! you are lick you feel as good as you do! sorry I am not trying to down play your symptoms but, you just had MAJOR surgery!!!! the first week is a b@#&%th. I had hernia surgery(got it from my open RNY in 2009)over a month ago and I had to be readmitted for dehydration and pain. I am still not well and still nauseated. Since it makes my sick to eat I have lost 15+lbs in a month!
the Docs know, they just not know why!
