Thank you! Hopefully the surgery will help. I just got referred so I can get a consult. Going to call and set one up in the a.m.

From a fellow GERD sufferer (yes I am post-op, but they think my big stomach is still making too much acid and hurting the intestines... and may be part of all my misery... long story).

Pre-op, the only way to control the GERD was Nexium 2x/day and Zegerid before bed.  I am on Aciphex 2x/day and they may up that or add another med (they said try Prilosec for a couple of weeks on top of Aciphex before trying another prescribed one).  Phew... long sentence!  Needless to say, I know your misery and really push for help... either different meds or GI referral (who put me on the 3 pills a day pre-op... one of my RNY surgeons gave me the Aciphex 2x/day).

Yeah I'm definitly going to stay on top of it. It's been going on too long! Do they anticipate your GERD going away at some point in the cycle? Or does it seem like you may just have it? I hope the Aciphex and prilosec work for you. Personally prilosec seems about worthless.

Will my GERD go away?  We hoped with the surgery it would... but seems that it is just as bad, just different symptoms.  Instead of burning and pain in the esophagus and upper stomach, I get severe, debilitating nausea, dry heaving, and some intestinal pain.  I will see the surgeon because OTC meds just don't cut it for me, but I figure, I can try Prilosec (on sale too!) and can say that OTC meds don't work.  That's pretty much the reason I am trying it... and trying to hold onto home that MAYBE it will help me.  I hope you get resolution soon... being sick sucks.
