gaining 8 pounds in three years is not bad at all.  I have seen some gain alot of weight back.  I can see that getting in the protein is hard.  I am not a big breakfast eater so I will try to do my protein shakes every morning as a routine once I am a regular food.  There seems to be more and more liquid vitamins coming out in the market.  I think Im going to try those first.  I know what you mean about pain in the knees.  Have you gone on You Tube.  There is alot of surgery Oldies there.

Thanks Joan

HI ......I am over 3 years out and just went to my doctor yesterday for my checkup.  I must say that being out 3 plus years, I still have problems with low protein, low calicum and really low vitamin D.  I take a high potency multi vitamin for people over 50 (which I am way over ;) ) plus Omega 3 capsule but I am still low on different vitamins.  I need to eat more protein.  Carbs go down way too well, and have to cut down on them.  Over the past 3 plus years, I have gained 8 lbs.  It's not much, but the pouch does get a bit bigger after a couple of years and I really have to watch it.....  I noticed that in my second year.  You can tolerate an awful lot of different kinds of foods now, then when you are out your first year. Just a cautionary note to all of you newbies.

Also, in answer to anyone who wants to know about iburprofen (NSAIDS), is not really true.
I have very bad knees and need two knee replacements.  Right now is not a good time for me to have them replaced and I have had more and more pain lately.  I have been taking iburoprofen now and then,  knowing that it may cause ulsers in the future but I didn't know what to do until I asked my doctor yesterday.  I can take Ibuprofen (no more than 4 a day as long as I take something like Zantac, Nexium, etc...in the morning that is time released.  I got a prescription for a generic one yesterday and doc said I can take it first before I take the NSAIDS.  This will prevent ulsers.

Hey where are all of the oldies.........lets hear from you....how are you all doing that had surgery 3 or more years ago.......please post.

thanks Carol B

Hi Everyone, I too must admit that I have not been on too much lately.  Between travel, and getting caught up since my trip it has ben hard to keep up.  Hope you are all well.  I am enjoying the new found freedoms myself and getting out and doing more.  Maybe that is the case with others as well?  See you all tomorrow!

Congratulations you are on your way.  I felt the same way when I got my date and then before I knew it I was doing the pre-op tests and I was there.  Hang in there, enjoy the summer and you will be on your way in no time!
