Hi Jenn,

Congrats of finishing this portion of your journey! What an accomplishment!

Cathy has some great advice for you. I have found that the squeeky wheel definitely gets the grease when it comes to the insurance company! You can also call Dr. G's office and speak with Cheryl about what she needs to get you approved more quickly.

Hope to hear you have a date soon!

Im not sure what your insurance co. is, I think it depends on them.  You can call your ins. co. and ask them if you've been approved also.  If they have all the test results  (sent by the Dr.'s office) they should be able to give you some kind of timeline.
It was all of 2  days for them to get back to me with a date..But my insurance had already okayed the surgery.

The pre-op appointments are not bad at all.  You need to have your first appointment with Dr Roye's office before beginning any pre-op though.  At that appointment you will meet with Dr Roye's NP.  After that visit the office will submit the proper paperwork to your insurance company for approval.  Upon recieving the approval, Dr Roye's office will then send you a pre-op package int he mail with all the appointments you need to fulfil prior to scheduling your next appointment with his office.
When you recieve your paperwork, you will find that they have booked a few of the appointments for you, however if the dates and times they booked dont work for you, you can always call the number for that appointment and change it.
As far as the pre-op testing is concerned, its pretty easy.  nothing painful.  The bloodwork, which is the last thing you need to do was probably the most painful and that was just a needlestick to draw like 16 viles of blood, at least thats how many for me.  Its not as bad as it sounds, it took like 5 minutes.
Anyway, good luck with everything!

I am finally through with my testing!  I just called a the Doctor's office today and I have to wait until the end of the week for a call back to find out what the next step is! I am slightly frustrated because I am waiting and want to know if I have been approved!  Dr.  Giovanni's office does all the tesing first then the the insurance stuff!  Now I am waiting on them!  I know someone who strarted his process after me and already has a date set!  UUGGGH!  But I know their are others out there that are still waiting (Jod, I know things will turn the corner for you).  Do people know how quickly DR. G's office works about getting back to you about the next step in the process?

Thanks
Jenn

There's an OH lapband board, too, that you might want to check out.  At the top left of this screen, it's under Forums/Surgical Forums/Lap Band.

Good luck to you!
