Topic: POLL: When did YOU really notice your weight loss?
Everyone says they can see a big (no pun intended) difference in the way I look....especially the weight loss in my face and chest (near the collar bone).

I JUST DON'T SEE IT!

Granted... I have been putting shirts on that were WAY too tight before, and they fit a little looser now... you would think that would be my biggest indicator?! Well, no.

I even see the scale moving... 1 month and almost a week out and I'm down 43 pounds... but I just DON'T see it in the mirror or even when I look down at my body.

So enough rambles.... when did YOU guys/girls see the change? Right away? After a certain amount of weight loss?

Topic: Recipe Swap at the Long Island Conference
There is going to be a table at the Long Island Conference for everyone to bring copies of their favorite WLS friendly recipes to swap and share. With the holidays and holiday parties fast approaching , this will be a good chance to try something new and share one of your favorites.  I would suggest making 50+ or so copies of each recipe. I'm sure the hotel has a copier if someone runs short. I'll try and bring a ream of paper so there should'nt be an issue using the copier. See everyone at the conference.

The only way you can fail is if you believe what they are telling you.  We all loose differently.  I went for 3 weeks without a pound off the scale and had to drill 5 new holes in my belt.  I have a single belt that I use that I bought when I could only use the first belt hole.  Now i have drilled 13 holes and the tip of the belt is over half way to the back of my jeans.  Drives people crazy that I don't just buy a new belt, but it is a tactile reminder that it is working and I am making progress regardless of what the scale is saying.  Don't worry about the numbers they will come.  If you feel better and your clothes are getting looser and you know that you are doing what you are supposed to do, let them eat cake...  Let them say what they want and in a few short months shove it right back in their face.  This is for you, not them.  Don't forget that.  If you are doing this for anyone but yourself, you need to look deep into what you really want.  This is yours.  No one elses!

I went for lunch with the misses to a little place we used to go to once or twice a month.  We actually haven't been there since my surgery because I am still trying to figure out how and what to eat.  The restaurant has a ton of booths and they were always, well lets say, confining.  OK, that was an understatement.  I was wedged in like a wheel chock holding an 18 wheeler from rolling down a hill...  Well we get there and they bring us to a booth, and not even thinking i jump on into the seat and get all comfy.  My wife is just standing there looking at me like I just invented air.  I asked her what the problem was and she said "did you just see what you did?"  I didn't even have a clue that the 3 minute wedging exercise to get into the booth had been replaced with a jump and dive sitting style with 7 to 8 inches of free space between me and the table top( i used to extend 3 inches over the table top if you know what I mean)...  It didn't even hit me till she said something that i had shrunk that much.  That moment I finally felt like I had changed a bit and was actually loosing weight.  The scale had told me that right along, but I didn't feel it or feel like I was making progress...  It's the little things that you don't notice that make the biggest impact on your life.  Just had to pass this one along and let you all know.  It is happening, whether you believe it or not
