Tiffany!!!

I'm so happy to hear from you!

It's a shame that Dr. S is unavailable for you. But I AM glad that your insurance company is being cooperative! Maybe they can provide you with a list of surgeons who perform the biliopancreatic bypass (also known as the biliopancreatic diversion-BPD or the Scopinaro procedure). You may have to travel to massachusetts or connecticut though.

Meanwhile, here's a great place with lots of info for you! I hope it helps!

Congrats on staying with it! Shows how much you really want to be healthy. Call me!

Well,, here I am again. It's been a difficult time but I think there may be a light at the end of this tunnel. I am currently trying to get a Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy and so far it has been one denial after another. Yesterday I got yet another letter from BCBS and this one was ANOTHER denial but with it came an alternative surgical suggestion for a different procedure. It is called a Biliopancreatic bypass. It is Similar to the RNY but it is more suitible for me with my current health issues.
The other thing is this...my surgeon is on sabatical for 1 YEAR!!!!  Soooo...I need to see his associate and hope that he does this procedure and that I can be scheduled soon for my surgery.
I said I refuse to give up and I haven't and maybe it will finally pay off. Keep me in your prayers please and I hope everyone is doing well.

Hugs, Tiffany

Hi!

Welcome to the board!

I had Dr. Pohl do my bypass surgery. I, personally, think he is an amazing surgeon and a wonderful person in general.

He's caring and committed to helping us before, during and after our procedure.

He helped me get a Post-Op bariatric support group meeting up and running at Roger Williams.

I highly recommend him!

Patty,

It look me just about three weeks to receive my packet from Annette.  She will schedule 2 appointments for you.  However, mine were scheduled for 4 weeks from the time I received the packet.  Unfortunately, the process is very slow!  If you have any other questions, you can e-mail me directly.
