Topic: One More Week
Well today marks one wee****il surgery for me.  Surprisingly I am not at all nervous about it, not yet anyway.  I have to go to my pre-op group session on thursday morning and have my final weigh in.  I am just praying that I havent gained anything since i was scheduled for surgery.  I have been following a modified liquid diet the past almost 2 weeks to try and drop some, but seem to have stalled.  I am pretty sure i'll be ok, but until i see the number on the docs scale, it still weighs on me,

I do have some questions for those of you that have had surgery at rhode island hospital though.  I was looking through the packet of info from the doctors office and it mentions that we cannot bring in anything that has to be plugged into an electrical outlet.   I was hoping to have my wife bring me my laptop seeing as I will be there probbaly 3-5 days b/c i am expecting this to be an "open" procedure.  So my questions is, does RIH have wifi and if so, can i have my laptop even though it will need to be plugged in to charge?  the other question is, can i have my cell phone?

if anyone can answer these questions for me i'd appreciate it.  Thank you

Brian

I'm looking for contact information on Kathleen Blackledge. I've seen reviews for her, but I can't find any contact information. I really need to go and see a nutritionist so I can see if I'm on track. The one I initially saw before my surgery was just not nice. I can't even remember her name. Lol, I would greatly appreciate contact information if anyone has it. Thank You!

Hi Liza - I can completely understand the frustration. I've been dealing with the same issues regarding my 2 year appointment... they definitely are busy, but again, it's no excuse.

Like everyone else said, go there in person and refuse to leave until you get your answers.

I do have to say though that at 1 year post op I had a complication that required emergency surgery, when I called the office and explained the situation they took excellent care of me and got me right in. I understand that it's frustrating now but they are reliable when it's an emergency.

Good luck!

That gas pain sucks!  That was the worst part of the first few days.  Keep moving and it will move on out.  Take care of yourself and do not overdo it.  Take time to rest so your body can heal!

Thank you to everyone who answered my last post. I know that the logical answer to my issue is to just change doctor's, but as all of you know, every doctor seems to have a different protocol that they want you to follow in preparation for surgery. I have been through all the  visits and all the testing for Dr. Giovanni and I just don't want to have to start all over again if another doctor looks for different tests or different visits, etc. However, I am considering all my options and with some great help from Deb T. (thanks!) I have decided to at least set up a consult with Dr. Ryder as a back up plan.

Anyway, the good news is that I FINALLY heard back from Dr. Giovanni's office today. She told the nurse that I need a letter of clearance from my Endocrinologist and then another office visit before she will reschedule. Fortunately I already have an appt with my Endocrinologist Wednesday, so I am hoping he will write me a clearance letter while I am there and I can fax it to Dr. G's office when I get back from the visit. They wouldn't schedule my next visit until after they got the letter, so hopefully by the end of this week I can get an office visit scheduled and finally get to talk to Dr. G face to face about all of this.

Thank you to you all for listening to my rants all the time. I honestly don't know how I would get through all this without you guys!!!

Liza

I'm sorry to hear about what you are going through. I was in a similar situation with Dr. Sax's office. I won't mention any  names but his secretary who thinks she is much more than she is was rude, lazy and obnoxious with a total god complex to top it all off sooooo I switched surgeons after Dr. Sax left. I definitely would NOT recommend them.  I have to go out of state to have my surgery but I have found a great office and it was a blessing in disguise. It wouldn't be the worst thing in the world if you do have to change. Good Luck!!

Tiffany
