Well, the residents are already doctors and skilled surgeons.  It is not like I will be the first person they have ever cut into, they are just going into the field of plastics.  Plastic surgeons need to learn too!  They are under the guidance of a very skilled plastic surgeon who will help them through the process - they are not going to let you come out botched!!  (by the way - I get what you are saying - I have seen photos of people who had their RNY surgeon do their plastics and they come out looking like frankenstein - I feel like at least with the residents, their goal is to do as good as they can) The price savings compared to a regular plastic surgeon are huge and when it comes down to it, cost matters to me.

I have read about it and seen photos and have been impressed by the results people have gotten going through resident programs.  There are many, so when I get to that point I will be visiting Boston, Connecticut, and the Brown program in RI to see the costs.

You'll do great! Don't worry about the scale. It'll all be just fine! You're doing the best you can and that's all you can do!
