Topic: RE: Hi everyone!
I know I thought the amount of pain I was in was abnormal because I had heard so many people say they were perfectly fine the next day!  It took me about 1 1/2 to 2 weeks till I felt "ok" and at the 3 week mark I felt "good".  Yesterday was 4 weeks and I feel normal again.  I still feel the port but it's not pain, kinda like yea I know it's there and sore but nothing major at all.

I didn't get hungry till I was about 2 weeks out. I stuck with the plan of clears for the first week and full liquids the second week. Just had protein shakes, pudding, jello, I did add v8 juice and I drank broth and crystal light.  I started getting hungry about 3 weeks out and now I'm "HUNGRY" ... I am getting my first fill the 23rd and I really can't wait.

Let me know if I can help with anything else.

I'm going to the meeting next week at Roger Williams to try and get more insight from previous and experienced bansters as well.

Hi.  I was in the same position.  My company is self insured and has written it in as a complete exclusion so there was no way they would pay.  I ended up having the banding because it was more affordable for me than the bypass.  My advice is to make sure you find out ALL of the costs up front if you decide to move forward.

When I spoke with Dr. Roye's office they gave me a price of $3400 - $3700 for the surgery.  I asked several times if there were any other associated costs.  They never told me to contact RIH to find out their fees.  I got a call from RIH the day before my surgery telling me I would owe $17,000 and had to make a payment of $8,000 before the surgery.

Needless to say I was an absolute mess but did end up moving forward.  Hopefully you will not have any surprises like I did.

Good luck,
Patty

Hello.  My name is Patty and I was just banded on Tuesday.  I'm so glad to hear the pain is normal and passes.  My days are good but the nights are tough.  I was wondering if you have been hungry?  I haven't yet but it's still soon.  Do you have any recommendations for the first few weeks?

Thank you,
Patty

Lisa!!!

Awesome! 60 pounds!

You're workin' it Darlin'!

I'm so proud of you!

Okay, time for some pep-talkin'

#1 Where would you be right now if you hadn't begun this journey in August? Probably about 65+ pounds higher than where you are now!

#2 You're able to move around more easily now! Can you imagine working out 4-5 days a week about six months ago? You're amazing!!!

#3 Come on now...you KNOW a man loses weight more easily than a woman. AND everyone loses weight at different rates. You're actually (like me) considered a 'light-weight' coming into this journey. We tend to lose the weight a bit slower than others.

#4 Slow and Steady wins the race...I know you HATE hearing that! But TRULY the slower you lose, the more likely you are to keep it off! This is a life-long journey! There's no real finish line! Where you are now, today, is just a small moment in time compared to the rest of your life's happy, healthy journey!

#5 Look at yourself in the mirror and say....."Lisa, YOU are Lovable, Capable & Worth It" You are doing great!!!

See you next week!

Jules
