hi I was looking to find a support group in RI for bariatric patients. I am one year out and would love to meet new friends who are going through the process.

Hi Vicky and Alexis!  I remember both of you.  I am so sorry to hear you had trouble with your bands.  I have done very well.  I met my goal of losing about 140 lbs.  I was very thin, and looked so old, I decided to gain back 10 lbs.  Over the past few years I am up about 25 total from my lowest, but I gain and lose them throughout the year, based on how much I am exercising, and whether or not I am watching what I eat.  I still get stuck if I eat too fast, but for the most part, I have been very happy with my band.  Would love to get together if you are up to it.  Connect with me at [email protected].

Hi,

It's been 3 months, since I've been on this site.

I've, been busy all summer, getting my mandatory appointments done.

My VSG, is sceduled for Oct. 17, 2016.

I'm, a little nervous, because Dr. G, said I have a lot of scar tissue, from previous surgeries.

I would be devastated, if I woke up and she wasn't able to do the surgery.

I have to stay positive.

Is, there any other people sceduled for Oct., @ Kent Hospital?

Thanks

Hi the RI board is very quiet. I think Dr G. Used to be with my doc Dr Roye at RIH/Miriam hosp. Heard only good things about her. Good luck with you're journey. I had a Lap band in 2007 out 2013 couldn't do bypass when band came out, too much damage--trying again now.

Hi,

I'm new to this forum.

15 years ago, I went through all the preliminary testing, hoping to have VSG.

After all that work and time I was turned down, because the procedure was considered experimental.

Needless to say, I was discouraged and gave up on the idea.

Now, I see that VSG, is being covered by insurance companies.

I'm starting back at square one.

Has anyone had Dr. Giovanni and her team, at Kent Hospital.

Has anyone had any R.I. surgeons, pertheSE.

How was your outcome?

Thanks,

Hi there,

Hi there, the RI forum isn't very active, but Dr. Pohl is my surgeon and I have been going to him for 11 years.  I originally had the lap band (done in Mexico) and Dr. Pohl was my follow up surgeon in the states.  After 7 years with the band I started to have issues and just this February revised to the bypass.

Some tips for the hospital stay chap stick, cellphone and charger, wear something loose and comfy the day your are admitted that way you can just slip it back on for when you're discharged.  Have who ever will be driving you home afterwards bring a pillow so you can hold it against your stomach for the ride home.  I know how bumpy those RI roads are.

Which surgery will you be having?
