Ok ok, maybe I over did it on the treadmill and my exercise bike, but my knees are killing me...should I wear those knee braces when I work out? this sucks....I finally got myself into excersie mode and now this... what the f***..... I wonder if I can get cortizone shots in my knees and the pain will go away, and it won't hurt to exercise....hmmmm...pondering.....i had asked dr ryder if I could get a cortizone shot in my left elbow, and she said she didn't think it would hurt...but now my knees hurt more then my elbow.... Oh well I guess i'll see how I feel tomorrow before I go an make an appointment with a bone doc...lol....I'm such a loser....*pout* Teri

Teri: hi there.......you're doing fine. no worries! your body is just tired.....it's been rather beat up lately. give yourself a chance to heal and go slowly. now I have a question.........tell me about this ABG (arteriole blood gas) test. my daughter, the nursing student said it hurts cause they have to dig for an artery. is it true? am I gonna have a heart attack Monday? tell me the truth... I can take it...lol. I also have my 27 vials of blood taken on Monday.......great! can't wait for all that fun. let me know. I hope your knees feel better. put some icy hot or a hot pad on them...maybe that will help. I have bad hips and knees and the heat helps greatly. love ya. Shel

Shel, Th ABG isn't that bad...they take the blood from your wrist...I thought I was gonna die, when I first heard about it I thought it was gonna kill...but it really didn't...Honestly....I think we work ourselves up to where we think its gonna hurt so bad...but then it happens and it really isn't that bad... Yeah I talked to my best friend Kat, she just left...she and I have been best friends since sophmore year in hs in nj...and she moved up here to be close to me about 4 years ago...we are like sisters....anyway, I was asking her if she thought I could take aleve for my knees....I guess I'll have to run that by Dr Ryder next week...I need something cuz I don't wanna stop workin out...ya know....I gotta say though, my lower back use to kill me whenever I did any excersices and now (knock on wood) it seems fine... Love ya, Teri

well, I'm certainly hoping that the more weight we lose, the easier exercising will be. I don't know about Aleve. Perhaps you can take it crushed, but yes.....ask first so you know you're safe. That's good about your friend. It's nice to have someone that close......especially girlfriends. I don't have so many girlfriends...not like before, cause I hide away most of the time. It's too bad. I hope that changes too. I just don't like having to dress up and know that I still look awful. I don't have any fun that way. I tell Tommy that I'm not feeling good, just to get out of going places too. I've calmed down about the gallbladder thing. It was a shock. I had that test last year and no one decided to tell me a thing. I only found out cause it was faxed directly to me first. It says that I have small gallstones and poor gallbladder contractibility....whatever all of that means. I'll call Dr. Royes office for my after testing appt and I suppose I'll find out then. I sure hope your knees feel better soon. Try soaking in a hot tub for a while too. Maybe that will help til you find out about the meds. Take care sis. Shel

Shel, It makes me so sad about the girlfriends thing. I did stop going out alot, but I'm not the type to go drinking...and a lot of my friends are...if I would go out with them, i'd make sure I took my own car so that I could leave whenever I wanted it. But we always see each other everyday...I have like 2 really best friends and one lives 3 houses away, Linda, she's been my friend for about 16 years now...and we've always made sure we lived real close..its funny, before kids we lived in Duplexes right next door to each other and then when we bought our houses we bought them on the same block lol...Its nice to have her so close...My friend Kat lives about 8 minutes away...so its really nice.... But now you have me...even though we live about 30 minutes from each other....its not a big thing..you'll see we'll all get together and have girls night out, where we go an get kiddie meals and go to the movies or something....I betcha we'll get a bunch of these girls on here to get together alot after everyone's had their surgeries and we can all compare notes...it will be fun... My knees are feeling a bit better today, but I haven't tried to excersice yet today...I'm going shopping with Kat to Warwick, the christmas tree shop and the 99 cents store...all those fun places lol...so I'm sure we'll be doing alot of walking...we usually make it up there at least once a month...like its so far away....being in Westerly everything seems so far away lol... Well you have a great day, and I'll talk to ya soon, Love ya, Teri

Hi Teri, I need two knee replacements...I have been to the orthopedic doc last year and he said nothing will work...but two new knees...they are that bad. So I know the feeling. I cannot go up and down the stairs like a normal person. I have to go up or down one step and one foot at a time. It's that bad. As far as Aleve, it's an NSAIDS and we who have wls can never take them again. Only non asprin products, like Tylenol. I have to get off my prescription meds for my knees and I hate Tylenol, as it doesnt work for me. I will call my pcp and find out if she has something else that isnt an NSAIDS.... You should call Dr.Ryder just to make sure. As for the cortizone shots, I had one and it only worked for a couple of days. My orthopedic doctor who gave it to me said it helps some people and some people it doesn't...unfortunately it didnt help me. I am full of arthiartis..it runs in my family on both sides. Like I told you before, my parents are very elderly and full of arthartis which limits their quality of life so much. They can barely walk with a walker. I am seeing myself in that same scenario. It was my pcp that told me if I didnt get the weight off I would end up in a wheel chair within 10 years...even sooner. That clinched it for me...and here I am...I just hope I can keep my own knees for a few more years before I have them done. As we all know, knee replacement is one hell of an operation...with lots of therapy. I dont think I am up to that just yet, and I have to have two of them done.......

Carol, wow i'm sorry to hear about your knees...I don't think mine are that bad yet...and hopefully losing the weight will help with that. I just took a half of a vicoden so hopefully that will work...I don't want to have to take them during the day though, cuz i hate feeling loopy....so hopefully tomorrow I will try the tylenol and it will help... It just sucks, I haven't had pain in my knees in a while, and look just a little excersise and it hurts again...maybe like Shel told me I can do the heat thing..I did take a hot epson salt bath tonight...but I don't think one bath will do it for me... Well thanks for the advice, talk to ya soon, Teri
