Initial meeting w/ Helen on Mon., May 8th

What can I expect to happen when I first meet with Helen on Monday. Does anyone know if I will also get to talk with Dr. Harrington?

Hi Kelli, I know when I met Helen it was just her, she is very informative and a very nice person. Nothing will really happen that day, they will take your weight and blood pressure and stuff...normal stuff...its just a getting to know you kind of meeting. Hope this helps, Teri

Thanks Teri, what happens after that? When does all of the testing start, or do I have a way to go for that.

you'll get a package with pre-made appointments for all the tests they'll require for you [gall bladder ultrasound, chest x-ray, sleep study, etc..]. some of them, like chest x-ray and bloodwork, are things you can just show up forat your own convenience. it took me a while to get all the testing done - the sleep study was the test that held me up the longest! i finally got my package in early novemeber of 05, and didn't finish until March 2nd. If you've had any of the required tests, make sure you tell them so they can request copies of your results!! this could help a lot!! kristen

you can also ask her any questions about the surgery that you might have.. she should be able to answer them! if dr. harrington runs his program like dr. roye, you won't be able to meet him until after all your testing, and insurance has approved you.

I found out what tests were needed that day, and made a list of everything...I had my pcp set all the tests up so that I had a chance to get started on them...even before I was approved...if you do that you will be way ahead of the game...it was exactly 5 months and 3 days from the day I met Helen to the day of my surgery..
