alright ladies and gentlemen..
Peggy, my daily goal for protein as given to me by my nut is 78gms. It is based on height (65in.), sedentary lifestyle (deskjob) and goal weight (150ish - not current weight) and takes into account that we malabsorb so a percentage is added on to make up that diff. I believe if you look up BMR (not BMI) on the net you can find a calculation. However, my nut also told me that by 3/4 mos. out she expected I'd only be making 70% of that goal which is about 55 and that is pretty much what I am doing. I do get to goal 2 or 3 days a week now. However, my calories are always above 700, sometimes even reaching into the 9's and sometimes w/more carbs in them than I'd like (my personal peeve, I'm working on that). Anything less than 600 is gonna have the scale stopping although your protein is on target so you aren't muscle wasting, you just aren't fat wasting either; or have you noticed your inches shrinking? Could you maybe slip in another small meal? Overall, you seem to be doing great and on track w/the rest of us. This is a bit of a wild ride. Each time I think I get it figured out it does something to confuse me again. I'm just trying to stick to the rules and let it figure itself out. Keep plugging.... J.
my nut told me to switch up what I was "eating" within the 300-500 calories a day I eat. I had been stuck on a routine, and at 30lbs. When I switched to different "foods" I went to 40lbs. I drink a gal of crystal lite a day and take in 90-110 protein a day. I have a stricture, so I can only have the liquids, puddings, liquidy purees, etc. The protein drinks make it much easier to get in my protein. I don't know if any of this helps, it's just what works for me.
Good luck,
Gosh
Hi Peggy,
I eat shrimp either steamed or chilled. I love nuts, like almonds and for higher protein the best option is soy nuts. I eat edamame, and sushi. Steamed sea bass, and tilapia. I have a small filet mignon once a week, It is easier to digest medium rare, and softer than other beef. My favorite things are the South Beach protein bars, Laughing Cow lite baby bell cheese, and Dannons light'n fit Carb and Sugar control smoothies. I also eat Breakstone's cottage cheese, because it tastes great. I know if I don't get enough protein in the scale really does stop. I continue to lose inches like you though when the pounds are not moving. My biggest problem is eating too quickly then throwing up. If I eat slow and chew well, I'm fine. I also love the carbs, but try to have very few, usually just a few pretzels as a snack. Do you have trouble getting in your liquid? Try Sobe Lean Diet Mango Melon with Splenda. It is wonderful! 20 oz. a bottle, and the first ingredient is filterd water! Hope this helps!
