Waiting...on Aetna.
Like many of you this has been a long process. I started a few years ago and was denied by Aetnae the first time around because of the 6 month diet requirement. I then did Optifast for six months and went from 425 to 285. I was elated and affraid of going back on solids. I have since gained and am now up to 330. That's not much, but I am scared to go back to my highest. So I met with Dr. Roye in Jan and got the ball rolling. Aetnae lost the fax and after one month asked me to send it to a pre-cert nurse, that they a month later claimed to not know anything about. So finally on March 8th they got a third fax of my information and it has sat now for 30 business days. I called my employer and they put me in contact with a benefit advicacy agent and she has contacted them and says I should have an answer on Wed or Thurs. The final guy that gives the okay is suppose to look at it and that is the last step. So tomorrow I should know. I am scared and frustrated. If they say no I will explode! It has been a horribly frustrating process, and it is hard to read of others with Aetnae that seem to go right through. I did have issues with Dr. Roye's secretary, becasue they refused to call Aetnea and would only fax in the info. Aetnae kept saying that their procedure is to have the Dr's office call in and get the precertification started in the system. Dr. Roye's secretary refused...I finally got them to fax it the third time and begged a supervisor at Aetna to enter it into the system after several weeks of just siting. I'm feeling kind of like a pawn in this system. Not sure what to think about the outcome that I will hopefully get sometime tomorrow. I really don't have confidence in the "system"...doctors or insurance companies.
