Hi Everyone, My name is Kristen, (yes, another Kristen). And I am new to posting on these boards. I am in the early stages of all of this, and I am going to see my doctor for the initial appointment on 4/28. I have been approved for surgery, and I am very happy. I read what everyone has written on these boards, and I am happy for everyone. I am already in a pre/post op group, and I am already making lifestyle changes...today I cut all carbonated beverages out of my diet, and stick to simply flavored water and crystal light (which I don't mind, I love it). Next will be caffiene... So, I hope everyone is doing well, and I will keep everyone posted on my progress. It is nice knowing that there are others out there who have been through this, not everyone is as understanding as people who have been through it. Kristen

Hi Kristen....welcome! Yea! ...most of us are pretty happy right now with having either been approved or already have a surgery date. I'm wondering how you got approved before your consult, as they turn in your paperwork at that time....but regardless, YAY for you. The changes you are making will definitely benefit you in the long run. You're right about the understanding........most don't REALLY know what it's like unless they've walked in these shoes. So you're always welcome here.....to talk, vent, be happy and make an announcement...whatever. We understand. Again, welcome! and very best of luck on your jouney! Shel

I guess what I mean by "approved" is that my insurance company finally approves the WLS after many years of not approving any kind of weight loss interventions. I have not been "approved" in the sense of acutally having the surgery (which I don't think will be a problem) but the ins. co. covers it now. Guess I should have been more clear in the post, but I was just so excited, and probably was not thinking clearly. I am happy to be on here, with everyone. Thanks. Kristen

Hi Kristen, Welcome...we are all in this process either having, or had...and we know everything you will be feeling and going through...Like Shelli said, if you need to talk, there is always someone around. Good Luck in your process... Teri

hi Kristen welcome to our little home. I'm so happy that things are moving along for you! It sounds like you're getting on the right track with changing some behaviors beforehand. I've kicked the soda habit.. but still clinging to my Dunkin Donuts Iced Coffee. I've got from "regular" to cream and Splenda. So that's "something".. lol. keep in touch with us! kristen
