hi teri!! i'm right there with you, all of a sudden. Dr. Roye asked me to try to shed as much weight as humanly possible. I've gained 20lbs over the last year dealing with all this surgery stuff. i think i'm going to start having a protein drink in the morning [i have trouble with breakfast.. i like bagels WAY too much, so I might as well just start with some protein], and then have some cottage cheese/cucumbers for lunch.. and then chicken and brocolli/asparagus for dinner.. no more starchy bad carbs for me! we can do this!! kristen

Hi Kristen, I wanted to wish you luck with your new date...I just read your profile and you are alot like me...I weigh 240, they want me to lose 10 lbs....I keep thinking about a 10 lb bag of potatoes..*S*....how the heck do you get rid of that ....Well I wish you luck, I'm doing my best, today I had a slim fast and a plum for breakfast, and then I had baked cod and broccli steamed...I also had a pear and some strawberries...boy the bathroom was my friend today, thank god it was close...I don't know what did it...but it probably was the slim fast...someone told me that is how you lose weight, it gives you diahearea *sp*...Tomorrow, I think I will have egg beaters, veggie sausage and some melon for breakfast....this is all new to me...I loved going to Micky D's for a bacon egg and cheese bagel and a large coke....damn........but I've got to do it.....I will do it... Keep in touch with me and let me know what you're eating...maybe we can help each other... Teri (big hugs!) good luck!!!

thank you, thank you, thank you! i'm so excited. instead of thinking of the 10 lbs as a whole bag.. think about losing a potato every week. losing ONE potato is way easier than a whole bag, you know? little steps! i think, honestly, the easiest way to lose weight is to: 1. don't go to fast food places - ever 2. don't drink soda - even diet! the artificial sweetner in diet cola has been linked to making people hungry!! [also, watch the fruit juices - 8oz of orange juice has more calories than coke!!!] 3. drink way more water than you think is even possible [plus, this is good for us to get in the habit of pre-op!] 4. stay away from the white starches - no rice, pasta, bread, flour.. i think just abiding by those rules as best we can... the weight should come off, slowly maybe, but it will come off! good luck teri. i'm about to leave for the support meeting tonight.. hope to see everyone later! kristen

Hi Kristen, I wasn't able to get to the meeting tonight...how did it go? Was Dr Ryder there?... I think I'm getting into this diet thing...I don't know if its in my head, or what but I actually think my stomach is getting a little smaller..lol...Today I had to bring my daughter to the doctors,,,she's pregnant...we just found out...she's 19..gonna be 20...she's not married but she lives in flordia with her boyfriend...she goes to school there...and well, what can I say, I'm happy...i know she's young, but i don't believe in abortions...I adopted my children..I wasn't able to have children...and well I'm excited for her....I pray everything works out...she is always welcome back home if she needs too.. Ok off the subject...I'm doing protein first, and then veggies and fruit...lots of water....I stopped drinking diet coke about 2 months ago...that was a biggie for me, I lived on that stuff...but I'm so into th is new way of life, it wasn't that bad, I actually don't miss it. It's only been 3 days, but I hope I can do it...Do you know if you are having open or lap? I'm hoping to have lap, i've never had an operation...but its all up to the 10 lbs... Well, thanks for the nice response...I really appreciate it.. Teri

hey there. tonight's meeting was different. we spent the first 15 mintues or so discussing the pro's and con's of changing the format of the meeting. Many people feel that because there are now SO many people who go to the meeting, that they don't have the opportunity to ask the questions/make the comments that they want.. Not sure what will come from all of it.. but hopefully it works out! that's exciting news about your daughter. more trips to FL for you!! you know, i think so much of dieting is just breaking the habit. once you stop doing the bad things, you kind of forget about them.. and so long as you don't go back to the bad things.. then you'll be alright! or i hope so. lol i am trying to make those changes.. and know that once i have this surgery, i'm not going back.. i'm having open surgery. i don't really have a choice because i'm also having a massive fibroid removal/possible hysterectomy and a hernia repair at the same time. i've been holding off on these last two surgeries so that i can have them all done at the same time, instead of in 2 or 3 surgeries. i cannot wait. i'm going to feel like a million bucks once surgery is over! woohoo. talk soon. and feel free to email if you ever need to chat. kristen
