dr. roye's nutritionist?

hi. ok - i first started this whole process at the Lahey Clinic in MA. I had all my pre-op testing done through them.. but after many insurance denials and a move to Newport, RI - i decided to "start over" with Dr. Roye. Because so many of my tests were within a year, he accepted them so i wouldn't have to repeat them all over. one of these was my nutrition evaluation. So.. now i'm left without a nutritionist. and i don't want that to be the case after my surgery. Who do dr. Roye's patients have as their nutritionist? do you like her/him? what is the after care like? are you required to see her/him regularly, or do you take it upon yourself to do so? i want to set up an appt. before my surgery so i can get the relationship going..so if i could be pointed int he right direction, i'd be so grateful. kristen ps. if anyone has a copy of Dr. Roye's post-op diet, i would be beside myself to see it. i'm so curious!!! i can hardly wait til my pre-op class!!!

Dear Kristen I am a Pt of Dr. Roye's I am just 8months post-op, Please feel free to check my profile out, or email me at [email protected] I saw the nutrisionist before surgery, the Dr. does not require it after surgery, you will see one while you are in the hospital also, you can call Dr. Roye's Office, and ask to speak to his secretary Annet she can maybe help you find one to see or give you a referal for after surgery. I have not found much need for one myself, but everyone is different. Please feel free to contact me, at anytime.

I am with Dr. Roye and I had my nutritional eval with Leah Spellman and I have to say she is absolutely wonderful! She is listed in the packet Dr. Roye sends to you once you are approved with a listing of all the appointments you have to complete. She is out of R.I. Hospital and has offices else where. She in no way made me feel like I was being evaluated in any way. It was a very laid back conversation. She is a very sweet person and I honestly think I may continue to keep in touch with her for any questions I may have after surgery.

thanks for the help! i think i'll call Leah Spellman and make an appointment. I really want to have a nutrionist after surgery.. someone who is versed in WLS,so I can have someone to call when i have questions. thanks! kristen
