hi everyone i'm in the market for a new PCP. Does anyone have any recommendations? Especially if s/he has any experience dealing with WLS. I'm looking for either Middletown/Newport, or East Greenwich/Warwick - or even someone in Providence.. Providence might even be ideal. Any help would be fantastic.. I don't know too many people down here [i'm from MA, originally], so I don't want to just randomly pick a name off the internet, you know? thanks so much, -kristen-

Kristen, This is a copy of my post I left for Michele who was looking for a new PCP also... Michele has had her visit with this doctor and is very pleased with her as is the Dr with Michele. She is wonderful she is an advocate for wls. Her brother has had wls surgery and she's had other patients of hers who have had it so she's not leading me or Michele down this road blindly. I hope this helps you!! P.S.If your interested Let me know and I'll get you direction from your location. It's really easy to get to from anywhere because its off the Wampanoag Trail! Good Luck! NaDene Reed Michele, I myself never really had a pcp until last year. I was the type of person who "sucked it up" when I felt sick. The only medical care I was getting was through my oncologist. My husband took sick last January and his pcp fluffed him off which caused him to get worst. He ended up in the hospital literally close to death and had to life saving surgery. With this happening we had to find him a new pcp who could now deal with his life long health issues brought on by the lack of care he previously had. His mother, father, sister, aunt and uncle suggested Dr. Leah Adams in Barrington RI. Let me tell you this woman is absolutely awesome!! She listens to every concern you have. She doesn't rush you out. And if you feel something's not right she will send you for test to be sure everything is OK and she will not try and fluff you off. If you don't have a sitter and you have children she encourages you to bring them. It's her own practice in a small office and she is the only doctor there. She was the only girl in her graduating class and due to this she felt she had to work harder then everyone else to prove herself. Let me tell you as someone who never went to the doctors I now call her for everything. She gives you free samples of things if she has them and if you feel like crap she will have you come in THAT DAY and not tell you see me in a few days. Her husband works there answering phones and booking appointments. He's not the most enthusiastic person on earth so when I call I usually ask for her nurse June who's awesome with getting back to you a.s.a.p! Oh and BTW she is completely open minded when it comes to WLS. As a matter of fact her brother had WLS with Dr. Roye and she is the one we recommended him to me!! She's easy to get to also, from Warwick take 95 north to 195 east, Ya gonna pass the Tauton Ave and Warren Ave exits, there's one more too your going to pass, don't take that one, the next one will be the Wampanoag Trail ( I can check the number exit that is for you when I got to work) it's a fork so stay to your right and follow that to the end and it will dump you off in Barrington, follow that up to I think its your second set of lights and the Barrington library and city hall will be on your left that right is Maple Ave. She's right down that street in the Medical Building, it will be on the right side of the street. Dr. Leah Adams 310 Maple Avenue, Barrington, RI 02806 (401) 245-5555 Good Luck! NaDene

Kristen: I'm backing up NaDene's post. I came here looking for the same thing. I read NaDene's response to me, took her advise, made an appt.......and the rest is history. I have a new PCP. I will be with her til dooms day. LOVE HER! She understands us. She understands WLS. She's a terrific person and has old fashioned values in regards to how a Dr. should service her patients. And she stood in front of me and told me that she was an advocate for ME. For me! WOW. I needed to hear that. You must be able to trust your Dr. and be able to tell them anything. Dr.'s are very busy these days and to find one that will take whatever time YOU need, is pretty special. It can't hurt to talk to NaDene and get the address. Yes, it's a bit of a drive (just a little further than Providence)....but WORTH IT!!! Best of luck in your search. Shelli (Michele)
