Where is everybody?
I come on here everyday, and there is never any new posts...so I thought I would write one and maybe start something...lol
Well I was hoping my insurance company was right when they gave me a date of 3/10/06 for my surgery, I don't know why they told me that because it is not true. I did all my preop testing and I finished that on Monday, 3/6/06. I called Dr. Roye's office and Annette told me that I have a date of 3/31/06 to see Dr. Roye and hopefully get my date. The waiting is the hardest part...Can anyone tell me why they took 28 vials of blood out of me? I was so dizzy after they did that I thought I'd need a transfusion LMao...What are they looking for with all that blood? I guess I'm just a newbie to surgery, this will be my first one. I'm nervous but also very excited to start my new life as the skinny me thats dying to get out!!
I keep telling my daughter that I will be borrowing her clothes, Yeah right (she's 15 and a size 4) .... I can dream can't I? lol
Well hopefully everyone is doing fine, and we can start chatting on here.
Come one people, lets chat!
Teri
Hi Teri:
I come by here everyday too, (several times) and I don't think many people stop by the state board. I think they all go to the main board. I would like to chat with people around this area too.
Unfortunately I didn't make it to Dr. Royes meeting last week...did you go? I am definitely going next month. I'm really getting into the swing of this and getting excited.
I say my new PCP today and she's all for the surgery. I loved my former PCP but she just wouldn't budge on WLS...dead set against any form of it. Well, it's my time to live...and at 42 I made the big move to a new Dr. and I'm better for it. She says I'm pretty much ready to get a date. I've already had most of the tests done last year when I contemplated doing this, but my Dr. said no. So I'm almost done...need a couple more tests and I'm all set.
I'm soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo ready!! Scared....but ready.
You hang in there. Surgery is just around the corner for us both.
Hugs and best wishes........talk to you soon.
Shelli
Hi Shelli,
Yes I did go. Sorry you couldn't make it. It was very informative. I'm glad you found a doc that is for wls. It's very hard when you really like your pcp and you have to leave and find another. You are lucky to have had all of your tests done already, I thought I did, but I had 3 more to get done this past monday...now I know i'm done. I'm a ready person too....
Teri
Hi Teri,
I am also waiting for a surgery date. I finished the blood work Sat and I have an appointment with Dr Harrington on April 13. I look forward to meeting him and hope he gives me a date for surgery that day. I am hoping for the end of May as the insurance wants it done by June 2.
Maybe some day we will meet.
Claudia
Hi Claudia,
Yes hopefully we will be able to meet...That would be really fun. I wish you good luck in getting your surgery before June. Jeeez I don't know if I'll be able to wait that long...I was hoping for a good bathing suit season LMao.....
Well anyway, i'm sure we will all be healthier once we have our surgeries and that's what its all about.
Teri
I pop in here too but there never seems to be any activity so I head to the main board.
I have 12 more days then I see Dr. Roye for what I'm hoping is my surgery date! From what I understand he usually sets surgery dates about 3 months out from that date. So I'm guessing on a late May early June surgery date. I guess that means I'll be able to spend my recovery time at the beach.. Poor Poor me.. lol Don't get me wrong, I'd love to have it tomorrow but if i gotta wait why not take advantage of the time off.
Anyways nice to see activity here and even nicer to see others who are about start this journey the same time as I am.....
Take care my WLS sisters!!!!

You are such a lifesaver!! I LOVE Dr. Adams. Your advise was the BEST. I can't tell you how much I really liked all of them. June too! She was great. But I was just so happy to meet Dr. Adams and get this ball rolling again. And she is behind me 100%. I cried almost the whole way home after my appt. yesterday, because I was so happy about the move to her practice.
She stood there in my face and told me that she was an advocate FOR me, not against me (as my former Dr. was)...and would do anything she could to get my BP in check and see that I'm perfectly healthy for surgery. She sees it happening pretty soon. Meeting her and hearing her phylosophy on how she likes to practice medicine was the first real ray of sunshine I've had during this process.
Next to the actual surgery...she's the best thing I ever did for myself. Thank you NaDene! You really came through for me and I appreciate it so much. I told her I was referred by you, so you'll hear about it...LOL.
Take care!
P.S.....her new baby is adorable.

NaDene and Teri:
You all will probably go to surgery before me......do you both have angels? I would like to be there for you if you need it. I'm right in Warwick, so it won't take me long to get to either one of you. And the hospital is just minutes away.
Let me know. I'm more than happy to help.
Shelli
NaDene,
No don't say 3 months after that appointment....Oh I hope that's not true...My friend told me (she had Dr. Roye) that she was given a date 1 week after her appointment.....Well I guess we will find out soon huh? Good luck in your appointment in 12 days. Have you met him yet? I had Helen the first time I went to the office, but I did go to an info meeting and I met him there, he seems very nice and understanding.
I like having allot of sisters.....I think this board is something really special....
Thank you all for responding to my post....I think its fun to be able to talk to people going through the same thing. Honestly I felt so alone in the beginning of this journey, I felt like I was the only one....and then I found you guys.....a little piece of heaven in cyberspace....
