Dr. Harrington
hi - my first post! Right now I've already met with Helen at RIH and am going thru tests. I have read thru the posts diligently and notice that most of you have Dr. Roye. My PCP told me to contact Dr. Harrington - so he will be my surgeon. I'm starting to worry because it seems like most RIH patients have Dr. Roye and that they come thru w/o a lot of serious complications. Have any of you had Dr. Harrington? I read a post by one woman who had him, ended up with problems, and then switched to Roye - so that made me even more concerned. Thanks so much!
You've heard of complications with Dr. Roye? Who did you hear this from? Dr. Roye was my surgeon and he was fantastic! He did my fathers surgery and a friend of ours as well. I wouldnt have had the surgery unless it was with Dr. Roye. I have complete faith in him. Ive heard good things about Dr. Harrington as well. Helen is Dr. Royes assistant as far as I know. I would suggest you come to a support group meeting at RIH, it may be beneficial to you. Best of luck!
With love,
Em
Hi there! Congratulations on getting started on your journey.
I had my surgery with Dr. Harrington and as far as I am concerned he is awesome! I did not have any complications after surgery, and healed just fine. I did have to have my gall bladder out in May, but that is par for the course sometimes with WLS and Dr. Harrington did that surgery as well. I feel great and recovered well from that surgery too. Actually, Dr. Harrington only made one new incision in my belly button and the other three were the same one's from my bypass.
One of the reasons I think that there are more people who have Dr. Roye is that Dr. Harrington is also a trauma surgeon and therefore cannot just devote his time to bypass surgeries. However, if I had a complication during surgery, who better to address it than a trauma surgeon?
I've put my life in Dr. Harrington's hands twice with excellent results. I feel completely confident in recommending him to you. Of course, someone else may have had a different experience, but I'm sure if you searched, you could find patients of Dr. Roye's who weren't happy either.
Ultimately, I put my faith in God and trusted Him to guide Dr. Harrington's hands. If it was my time, at least I knew that I had tried to take back my life instead of letting my morbid obesity kill me without a fight! I don't know your faith and hope I am not offending you, but I will pray that you will find comfort and peace with Dr. Harrington as your surgeon and that all will go as well for you as it has for me.
God Bless!
