June 1, 2005 was my first appoinment at Dr. Roye's office. I met with Helen who answered my questions, went over everything with me and assured me that the office staff would contact my insurance company for approval. June 15,2005 I got my notification of approval, as well as a packet listing all the tests I now need to have done. My journey has begun.

Hi Donna! Congrats to you and moving toward the loosing side!! I am 6 weeks post op and my doctor is Dr. Roye also. I LOVE him! Helen is always helpful and Annette is always busy and helpful too. Are you have lap or open? I had RNY lap and I have lost 40 lbs. so far....and feel great! Good luck with your journey and ALL your pre ops, it took me almost a year to the date that I got my surgery date after all my tests...as long as you keep a good outlook with all your tests, you will be met with people that are willing to help you out in anyway that they can and make your experience as comfortable and smooth as possible. Remember, sugar gets more then vinegar. I always went in with a smile and I will tell you that every experience with my tests were positive and the people were AWESOME!

Hi Dee, I am looking forward to coming to the loosing side. Luckily I have a few of my pre ops already done. I had a pulminary a month ago, my echocardiagram and chest xray a week ago. I have 4 appointments within the next month but I still need to set up the rest (like the sleep study, the nutritionist, gallbladder, stress test, etc.) I am hoping they won't take too long to set up. No matter, I will remain positive and take what I can get, knowing my day is coming. Sooner now than it was a month ago. Congrats on your loss! I am pretty sure we are going with a lap. not an open. What does the RNY stand for??? Do you go to the meetings at the Gerry house in Providence?? I want to go but I am one of those that is apprehensive walking into a room full of strangers all alone. Perhaps we can get together before the next one and see about going together. Keep up the great work and lose lose lose!!!! ~D~
