Greetings all! I will be attending a convention in the Providence area in August. I'm looking for suggestions of a restaurant that would be good for a group........like about 15 to 20 people. It could be in the actual city of Providence (like on Federal Hill), or somewhere close to Gillette Stadium. Nothing fancy is neccessary.........but if it has good seafood that would be awsome. Last year we were in a different city and found a brew pub that was awsome. I guess I'm saying that we're open........but would love the input of some "locals". Thanks in advance for any advice! Pat ps.........I'm 8.5 months post op and down 90 pounds!! Life is good!

Hey Pat, We have alot of great restaurants in Providence. How much money are you looking to spend is the real question? I'd be happy to make some suggestions. With love, Em

Thanks for the reply. It's hard to say how much we want to spend. We're looking for casual.....someplace that will take us in Tshirts and shorts. I'd say moderate priced.............$15-$20/person tops. Hope that helps.........any suggestions would be helpful!! Thanks! Pat

Hey Pat, Maybe you should consider taking the water taxi to Newport if you have time. It leaves from Providence. Once in Newport there are many great places to go. The Black Pearl has a great tavern menu that is a much cheaper than the regular menu and the food is good. The staff is always snooty though, just ignore it. Yesterdays is also very good in newport as well as Brick Alley Pub. In Providence 3 Steeple Street is good. There are many interesting places on Thayer street as well. My personal favorite is Cafe Choklad, on the corner of N. Main and Thomas. Maybe because my family owns it! LOL shameless arent I? Anyways have a great time in RI! With Love, Em

I LOVE the Cheesecake Factory! In the summer you can sit outside in a very casual setting and enjoy the weather and sights. The food is excellent and moderately priced.

Thanks for your suggestions. I talked to the Red Wing yesterday. It sounds like a winner. They will fax me a menu. Any suggestions in the city of Providence? Something unique to the area.......rather not have a chain. Thanks so much! Pat

Hi Pat I was just talking to my husband and he suggest you try Twin Oaks or Marchetti's in Cranston. Both have Italian-American menu including steaks and seafood from $10 to $20. Are you going to Gillette for the drum corp? Pam

Also down the road from Gillette Stadium in Plainville is the Chieftain Restaurant that also has fabulous food including buckets of steamers or mussels and great seafood. On Federal Hill go to Anthony's for a great Italian meal for very inexpensive costs and it is a very down home experience. There are other great restaurants on Federal Hill such as Cassarino's where you will spend a little more there $20 per person but the food is outstanding. Happy dining in Rhode Island. We have great choices!!!!
