Hi Everyone! Im new, just starting out and met with Dr Harrington yesterday. He said we can get the ball rolling and my insurance letter has been sent out. My name is Kerry, I am 27 yrs old, 5'6 and I weigh roughly 280. I have an extremely active 22 mos old. I am looking forward to keeping up with him. All in all I had a great appt. The NP was awesome and explained so much. The Dr was great too. Ive had my u/s's, echo, ekg done and I have my nutrition and sleep apnea test scheduled. My primary had me do all this so that I could be prepared when I saw the surgeon. So they were happy alot was done. They gave me the paper with the times for the support group which I hope I can attend. I only know 2 people that have had the surgery and they both are doing great with no complications. It's a scarey step, but Im ready. Im going to do a little more research on some things that scare me. Ive been told it doesnt happen all the time- but not being able to eat certain things forEVER kinda scares me. Always feeling sick is another one that kinda scares me. If anyone would like to shar their experiences with me, I would LOVE to hear them!

Hi Kerry, My name is cheryl my surgery was this past friday. I feel wonderful. I dont feel like i was operated on. Right now i have some sort of pain behind my knee and if it continues i will call Harrington. Oh by the way he is a very busy man, I was told to be at the hospital at 10:00 on friday morning well i didnt get into or till 7:45. I wasen"t leaving it took to long to get where i am. Kerry you are better off going to the main messaage board for information. The old timers are there to help you. Any more testing to go? Good luck to you Huggs Cheryl

Kerry, You've come to the right place! I would suggest coming to the monthly support group meetings. They are held on the first Wednesday of each month at the Gerry House @ RIH. I started going to the meetings a year before my surgery and I am so thankful that I did. Aside from meeting some incredible people, you get to ask questions and really do hear both the good and bad points from people who've been through the process. I listened a lot, asked a lot of questions and also made a lot of connections through this board. I have lost over 100 pounds but gained so much more! Please don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions at all. I feel as though I need to pass on the support that I received when I was in the same place you are now. Take care, Jen
